lol dude an October II is definitely not late to the game. Congrats!Kind of late to the game, but first II today!! Complete 9/20. LizzyM 75, IS, ORM
Thank you! I just submitted pretty late, so wasn't expecting to hear back from them so soon (or at all even) That's what I meant hahalol dude an October II is definitely not late to the game. Congrats!
In the past the portal decisions have always come 2-3 business days after the portal cleared, or the first business day after 10/15, whichever is later. So, you probably won't hear back on Monday. (But you still may) Sorry and good luck!Hi everyone, new here! I was wondering if your portal necessarily had to be clear to mean you had a decision coming soon. I interviewed Oct 2 and they said we would either hear the 16th or by the end of the first week of Nov. I'd obviously prefer the former haha! My portal has not cleared interview info yet.
Accepted through portal! No email. All early interviewees go check your portals. Good luck!
YepCongratulations!!!!! Just want to be sure, did your portal clear before you received your acceptance?
I interviewed on September 13, and I no longer have the interview page, but I can't see my decision anywhere :S anyone have that issue
I'm the same too.
This is what I am getting.View attachment 224484
Congrats to all of you who got in! I have an interview in january! Anyone know what the interview to acceptance rate is?
anyone with cleared portal who interviewed Oct 2 ? Congrats to those accepted!! Were you interviewed in Sept?
So I just found out Upstate requires stats. I never took it and graduated. Is it gonna affect me for getting an interview or not? If I get one and then an acceptance, I can always take it at a local college right? Or will they blackball me from an interview because I didn't take it. Thanks!
Congrats to everyone who got accepted so far!!
Just got an II here this morning via email and earliest date I saw was for 1/10, does anyone know if the interview waitlist has any movement?
And I've heard that Upstate isn't super OOS-friendly (CA resident here), is the class majority from NY/tri-state area?
I interviewed second week in September.Would those who received a decision yesterday mind sharing their interview date? And did those who got a decision receive both a portal notification and an email?

I just had my interview yesterday. There are 2 different waitlists. There is the HPA (high priority alternate list) and that has a good amount of movement to it every year. There is also the alternate hold list (I think it's called) and there hasn't been anyone pulled off of that in a few years. For next year the class will be 170 students. Around 650 people are invited for an interview and Dean Welsh stated that they generally give out more than 400 acceptances to fill out the class.
I say go to the interview, especially if you don't have an acceptance already. Although the majority of the students are from the NY/tri-state area I don't think it matters once you've already been invited for an interview. Good luck!
@aquarius93 once you receive an II, residency plays no role in determining admissions (this was stated by one of the assistant deans). If I were you, I would attend the interview unless there is a reason why you would not like to attend upstate.
To kind of echo what others are say:
If by "interview waitlist" you mean the ability to move your date, by chance, to an earlier date - then yes. Rarely (but sometimes) earlier interview spots open up. Several people I know in my class interviewed in January (or later).
As @nywst said, once you get an OOS II, you're past that selective process. This year, actually, they increased the number of OOS/International spots for acceptances.
Just like @dr_stewpeas, I was accepted to Upstate but I will be going somewhere else. It's a brutal process and I will tell you it's definitely not all about your stats. I got a 500 on the MCAT and was accepted to 3/6 schools I was accepted into with scholarships. Upstate, in particular, told me I had a stellar interview and was vouched for during the committee meeting by one of the interviewers. The point is, put a lot of effort into writing good essays/secondaries, and if/when you get an interview invite, prep extremely well. I had 6 interviews and performed poorly on the first three. I later found a book (which I can refer you to if you PM me) which helped tremendously with the remaining interviews and was able to gain admission to all the other schools (including some high-ranking schools if that matters to you) thereafter. Work hard/pm me for tips and good luck. Also be confident in yourself!
