Doesn't 75% seem too high? This was said only about Middletown
Not really. It’s a new DO school without a graduating class. Most people wouldn’t consider it their top choiceDoesn't 75% seem too high?
II for the Harlem campus!
On Touro's website it says "candidates will meet with several faculty members". Does this mean they do MMIs? Any advice on what to expect on interview day? 🙂
Yea. I dont think its middletown. Its probably harlem. But its shared on the Touro website for both campuses. Thats where I saw it:Middletown residency? I thought the first class hasn’t graduated yet.
I don’t know the answer, but can I ask how things worked out at the other school you were accepted at?
Has anyone from the 1/8 or 1/22 interview dates heard back yet?? Just trying to see where they are on decisions (for Middletown)
I was accepted in early November and I sent in my 2k deposit shortly after. I have not taken a drug test. They sent me an email with a list of things I would need to do before classes start and one of them was a background check and drug test.Accepted about a week ago and I have a few questions for others who were accepted or who are currently enrolled. After I submit my $2000 deposit, will the school ask that I take a drug test? More importantly, will the school ask that I disclose any criminal charges/drug related offenses that have been dropped (so even if I have not been convicted, I will still have to disclose)? I ask because I was accepted to a different school earlier this cycle and only until after I submitted a expensive deposit did I hear from the school that I must disclose dropped charges. Thanks for the help!
I interviewed on 1/8 and still haven't heard back.Has anyone from the 1/8 or 1/22 interview dates heard back yet?? Just trying to see where they are on decisions (for Middletown)

Literally, yes. lolIt took over 2 months to hear back?????????????
At this rate, you won't hear back until September.I've got my interview for Harlem on 3/28. If anyone would be so kind as to pm me what their experience was like and what tips they had, I would really appreciate it!

Harlem and Middletown? As an upper classwoman at TouroNY I must spread the word to think twice about this school. They still do not have enough rotation spots for their soon to be third year students. You have been warned. Only go here as a last resort. Our level 2 COMLEX scores are one of the worst in the nation due to the poor quality of our clinical rotations. This school needs to be rechecked by COCA.
That poster goes to Harlem, which has had issues.Harlem and Middletown?

are there any other current students who can comment positively on the school?
or is this the general consensus that everyone feels?
Certainly not a general consensus. Look back on the threads, especially from two years ago, and you will realize that the above two posters 1. were influential in providing false information during the time when Harlem overenrolled and 2. is a reincarnation of a student who did not do well/felt the school slighted them during rotations. While my contacts at these places noted deficiencies, it is far from the doom and gloom these posters will lead you and others to believe. Other than the unfortunate overenrollment and the consequences after, TouroNY is still a solid school.

My thoughts exactly. The school also has pretty decent matches. Yeah it’s not a great location but what else is to be expected of a school in a major city. There are things that the school needs to work on and I was under the impression that the admin is working on those issues. They brought up low complex 2 scores at Harlem and informed us that they’ve made changes that should result in higher scores this time, and are expecting them to be in the 90s.
No changes were made. These are all cheap points they throw at you during the admissions cycle. We only have 1 hospital in NYC that we rotate at. All of our rotations are in tertiary care centers in NJ. The school does nothing to help us with clinical education. Some of us have families in NYC but the school expects us to just move and go to a new state. We are losing clinical sites every year and not gaining anything new. By the time you all are in OMS-III, we will also lose sites to the new Seton Hill Med School.
Also, the school gives you zero help/resources for boards. Less than half my class is planning on taking Step 1 because none of us feel prepared or feel like the school is giving us adequate time to prepare.
also current student and I agree 100% with this poster. This school is an absolute joke.
Positives: location. location. location.
