Hi,
I am going to follow the Pre-Dental track at University Of Pittsburgh. After I do my four years of Pre-Dental track. What are my chances that I will get into their own University of Pittsburgh Dental school.
Thank you.

Thank you.

This is probably a question better suited fore the predental forums, not the premed forums. But, anecdotally, I knew 2 pitt undergrads who got into Pitt dental.

Just curious, has anyone who has been accepted NOT received a physical letter in the mail yet?

Anyone else on the waitlist and not sending an update/intent letter. I don't feel I have anything worth the update so I am just going to take the risk.

I don't think a letter of intent or continued interest necessarily needs to have a meaningful update. If they are where you wanna go you should let them know. Certainly cant hurt.
I will write an interest letter, thank you

Congrats to those accepted!
To those on the waitlist:
If Pitt is your top choice, a letter of intent can be helpful to your application and getting off the waitlist. I don't think you need to necessarily have a substantial update to send one, if you're sure you wanna go to Pitt and can articulate why, I think it helps. (The administration loves people who they think will be happy at Pitt)
Also, these letters tend to carry more weight if you have other acceptances (which schools should be able to see after April 30th *If I'm not mistaken*)

Yup! And I did send a letter of intent so hopefully Pitt shows some love back (PLEASE!!!). You?
Yeah same!

I'm happy that people are withdrawing from here if they already know they don't wanna go here lol. I hope we get some of their hand me down spots

Haha yea! I wasn't expecting people to withdraw so soon, but I am glad they did (and, of course, I'm glad they had acceptances which they are happier with). Maybe we'll see movement beginning of March? I hope we all get accepted, you guys are all awesome!

I am expecting some movement on Feb 28th. The more I read in this thread, the more I want to be in the same class with y'all.

Questions for you guys....

If you chose to not accept admittance, why did you do so?

If pitt is your top choice, why does it outrank other schools?

Honestly I love Pitt. The convenience of having the "collegey" area right there (to include cheap sushi burritos haha) to the phenomenal gym. The imaging building they have, beautiful school, great rank, etc. The only reason I withdrew is because to Me, Mayo is more aligned with what I believe and they have the best facilities I've ever seen. And Mayo will be WAYYYY cheaper in the long run (and I am IS). Money is the great equalizer.

Not to be the catalyst of mass hysteria or anything... but for anyone else that has been accepted, are you unable to access your Pitt Med account because it has been "deactivated"? Asking for a friend here...

Mine was deactivated around noon yesterday and I called the office. They said it was just a glitch. They forwarded my ID to the IT department and it was fixed within an hour. Nothing to worry about.

The city is absolutely amazing, close to home, reputation of the program and UPMC - which is a clinical powerhouse. I also loved the people there and really connected with almost everyone I met that day (not something I can say about other schools I interviewed at).

Just wanted to the let good folks here know I withdrew my acceptance last week. I loved Pitt and it feels wrong to turn down such an amazing school, but I’ll most likely be attending elsewhere. And it’s a personal pet peeve of my mine when people hoard acceptances for no good reason.

Hope you guys start seeing waitlist movement soon!

I just wanted to say congratulations to those who have been accepted to Pitt!

I didn’t apply here, but I’ve lived here all throughout undergrad, grad school, and work. (I just really love Pitt lol. #h2p). To those who have accepted your seat, you have made an excellent choice! I have many friends who are present and past students, and they LOVE the program. Pittsburgh is lucky to have you 🙂

And did you give them my name? Lol

ok i realize this is prob a silly question, but i can't be sure...do you think they would e-mail us to check the portal when there is waitlist movement? or should i just check every hour of every day? hehe

Did anyone get confirmation after submitting all of their materials for financial aid, particularly need-based (FAFSA, CSS, W2, 1040)?

I feel we will get some WL movement next Monday the 26th. :xf::xf:
LOI sent, financial aid forms sent, tired of waiting.
How did you go about sending the W2s and tax returns? Not sure if I missed something, but I didn't see any explicit instructions about email or snail mail

Where do I send an update to Pitt? Do I just email it to admissions, or is there a document upload spot on the portal? Thank you!

I emailed my tax returns/W2’s as a PDF file. Haven’t received any confirmation from them so I may call just to be sure they got it.

I’m sorry I missed something why are we doing this? Can we not just submit fafsa??

I believe the email said that we need to send them our W2/federal tax returns or a non-filer form:

"Students who intend to apply only for loans and do not wish to apply for need-based funding are required to complete the following:
FAFSA Application (School Code: E00516) - FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid
Copy of students (& spouse) signed 2016 federal tax return & 2016 W2s or non-filer form if applicable"

Edit: corrected grammar.

As I understand it, if we want to be considered for need based aid we’re supposed to send a copy of our 2016 tax return and W2’s, along with a copy of our parents’ tax return and W2’s, directly to Pitt in addition to doing the FAFSA and CSS profile. For just loans and no need-based aid you do as @nsharma23 said.

Wouldn't it be cool if they gave us WL people clues on who would be accepted like they did for those who were outright accepted back in Jan (with the red financial aid line)? One can hope..
