Can anyone speak to what the group activity is like on interview day?
You definitely don't need to worry about preparing for it. It's not a stressful activity. It really is a fairly casual small-group discussion of a scenario, with everyone talking about possible approaches and factors to consider.

I wonder if we'll hear anything today. Their pattern this year seems similar to last year, and lots of people heard back about the second big round of rejections/IIs the last Thursday of Sept in 2016. Just conjecture, time will tell. I've been complete since 8/7 and silence so far.

We started a week later this year - I wonder if that makes any difference or if they will stick to the same schedule.

Has anyone who was complete the first week of September heard anything, rejection or II?

They haven't even gotten to August buddy

Actually, a friend of mine was completed around mid-August and had his interview this week so... Only one I've heard of so far so that's why I was asking if anyone else had. (he isn't early decision)

Guess they’re stringing us July folks along then :’|

It says I had everything submitted on 8/23 but still tells me "invited to complete supplemental application." Is this a glitch? I don't believe that I am missing any documents or information.

I have the same. Not sure.

I think the question a few of us have is whether anyone who was complete in August has actually be *rejected* yet. I have a low GPA, especially compared to my MCAT, so I imagine my application is at the bottom of the pile at every school I've applied to. But I haven't been rejected anywhere, so I'm hoping that means I either haven't been reviewed or they just aren't ready to extend me an II.

I wouldn't be so sure of that -- especially for Pittsburgh. A quick review of their MD/PhD stats (you applied MSTP, right?) shows that their average undergraduate gpa is a 3.7 and average MCAT score is 514. So there isn't any reason to automatically get down on yourself or assume you are at the bottom of the pile.
My application is quite like yours -- low GPA high MCAT score Pitt still showed me some love early on. I just think this process can be somewhat random

Thanks! I actually applied straight MD. When I say low, I mean 3.4 low. MCAT is over 520, but I am not hearing from many schools so far (only 3 out of over 30 have gotten back to me)

I feel you. But seriously stay positive. I am trying to do the same, myself. Our stats are very similar. ~3.5 and 520+

Hi all, anyone have feedback on how the MSTP day was organized/went? Kind of stressing out because its my first MSTP interview

Hey everyone! current ms1 here, we got emails with an update on the interview process from admissions (because MS1s taking over for MS2s to conduct interviews soon). As of Tuesday, they've sent 413 IIs, and anticipate offering about 650.

sorry if this is obvious, but is this in addition to the 413 already offered, or is 650 their cap?

sorry about the confusion, they'll send about 235 more!

Do you have any information if Pitt is planning on accepting less students? Or would this be a favorable change for those that already have II because the total pool of interviewees is smaller?

Just looking at MSAR, that's about 200 less interviews than what was offered (2 years ago). Any reason for the decline?

The numbers I posted were for MD applicants only, I think the numbers on MSAR include the MD/PhDs. They havent said anything to us about accepting less people or interviewing less etc.

So my secondaries, letters, and fee are have all been in for a month. But I checked the portal on a whim and it says "Invited to Complete Supplemental Application". Please tell me everybody without an interview sees that. Starting to get worried I've been missing something all month.

Pretty sure you're ok, I have that as well, haven't heard of anything else.

You're good. I have the same thing and asked about it awhile ago and they confirmed that everything was received

Has anyone sent Pitt an update through email? I"m trying to decide if I need to type it out in a word document or just include my update in the body of the email. Thanks for any input!

Do you think Philly to Pittsburgh is too close for an ITA request? I'm driving to WVU which isn't too far from Pitt but they're both about 6 hours away from me...

I sent mine in the body of the email and they accepted it and added it to my file, if that helps at all.

When I interviewed they said that they planned to keep their class the same size, so they are going to stay at around 150

Aaaaaaaaand I got rejected

Ok so real quick, has people heard back from a lot of schools yet? I have only heard back from 2/11 they were IIs but i worry that maybe my app is raising questions from the other schools.

I have 6 IIs and haven't heard from 17 schools so idk I think a lot play the silent rejection game or haven't decided yet

From what I can tell, a lot of people are in the same boat. I got three IIs in August and Sept, two back-to-back, and haven't heard anything good or bad for over three weeks. I know it's easy to worry but especially with two IIs already I would bet you'll get some more good news ... it just may take a few weeks. Trying to remind myself of the same.
