My interview's scheduled for 12/15 but I'm a bit confused.. For the online video interview portion of it, I can do it literally any time I want? I don't have to schedule anything, just log in and do it? Is that correct? Also, anyone who's completed that portion of the interview already, how was it? Any tips? You can PM me if you'd like! Thanks 🙂

That is correct, you can do it at any time, and they have practice questions on the website that you can do as many times as you want to get a feel for it. It’s kind of like MMI questions, you get a question, time to think about it, then 2 minutes to answer. It’s pretty straight forward, but awkward since you are just talking at your computer. You don’t get to redo your answers though, so make sure you practice a few times to get familiar with the format.

Thanks so much! I really appreciate it 🙂

One more Q, do you think the practice Qs at all resemble the real Qs?

Yes and no. There are some serious practice Q’s that are similar to the ones I got, and then there are some non serious ones in the practice like “What superhero power would you choose and why.” There weren’t any non-serious questions in my actual interview. Other people may have had a different experience though

It said they send a link to the video interview 7 days before your real interview? What's correct?

Has anyone or anyone that you have known been accepted recently? I know that it's only a slim percentage that gets accepted before March, but I thought I would ask.

Nothing here... starting to get pretty nervous (interviewed in September)...

I also interviewed in September. Since Utah doesn't fill most of its class till March, I am not as worried as I would be. It still sucks though.

Last year, they didn’t reject or waitlist anyone until March (post interview I mean)so if you don’t hear anything until then it’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Just took the video interview today. That was sufficiently awkward.. 🙄

Any pre-MMI advice from those who have had their assessment day?

They are nothing to worry about. Sounds cliche, but just try to have fun with it. I really enjoyed mine.

I know that Utah doesn't accept any updates, but does that go for letters of intent/interest as well? Couldn't find anything specifically addressing those letters on their website.

Oh man, did the video interview yesterday. That was incredibly awkward!
My computer is down in my unfinished basement so I had to try to hang a sheet in the background so it didn't look like ****e. I was nervous the whole time one of my kids would come running in (even though my wife was watching them). I much prefer being able to have the back and forth interaction that a live interview provides, this just feels like you're talking to yourself. Then if you fumble or anything when you're talking you can just imagine them replaying it over and over and over....

Congrats!! How far out are they scheduling now?

There was one early December date and some January ones if i recall correctly 🙂

Edit: Also received an II this morning

YES. I think in the future it would help if they can change the format/layout so you aren't just looking at yourself on the screen while you talk - it's so distracting.

For those of you who interviewed, does the MMI include acting scenarios, written scenarios, and/or group activities? I can't find any information on what the structure of the MMI is here.

It is all scenario/question based. No group stuff, just you and your evaluator. Not sure what more I can say about it since we had to sign the non-disclosure agreement.

Any MD/PhD applicants that haven't heard anything back yet since finishing secondary?

Any OOS with no ties get an II recently? I have visited the school a couple of times (we go to SLC every year) and I love it but the lack of OOS students doesnt look too bright for me.

Got one last Thursday. OOS with no ties

Got one about a month ago, OOS with no ties at all

What are my chances: oos, no ties, orm, gpa 3.93 mcat 508, strong ECs, research, not published

Anyone else wigged out by the video interview? It's gotten me freaked out based off of others' reactions!

It's worth the same as one of your MMI stations, nothing to lose sleep over. It was pretty weird though.

I've heard that 25% stat from several people on here, but the numbers don't add up from what's on MSAR. I would really hope that as a Utah resident my post interview odds from the ONLY school in the state would be better than 25%.

Unfortunately, the chances for each student once you interview is 25%. They interview 4 students for each seat in each category (IS, OOS, Idaho, and OOS with ties IS I think). So IS doesn't compete with OOS or Idaho.

Hmmm... well I'm thinking that doesn't take into account the number of acceptances vs the number of matriculants. Not everyone who interviews for a spot/receives an invite is going to matriculate if they are given an acceptance.

That's exactly right. Every school overaccepts to some degree, Utah is no exception. You've got more like a 33% chance post-interview, according to US News.

You do have a better shot if a Utah resident even though they’re all technically 25%. 85 chairs

BUT, the 25% is much more favorable for IS.. if I’m competing for the top 15 chairs as an OOS, it could be much more difficult to make it than if I were IS competing for one of the top 85 chairs, even though technically everything’s 25%.
