2017-2018 University of Washington

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Unless, per applesaucy's research, we have a case of the 2016's, where the acceptance calls are Thurs/Fri and alternates/rejections on Monday. 😵 idk what to think anymore

I think they haven’t contacted anyone yet. Doesn’t look like much movement on fb, lots of movement for the Spokane cohort in the past month.

A wk left my dudes.
Yep. I broke down and called admissions. They were very vague, but they said they're hoping to get the final decisions out by the end of next week or beginning of the following. I took this to mean that the meeting was not this week (of course, we're the first in five years to have it a week later than usual, because why not??).

My guess is the meeting will start early next week, with calls and emails going out later in the week. The "beginning of the following week" part might be the delay in sending the rejects and the ordering of the WL, but presumably a certain number of calls have to be out by 3/15 for AMCAS rules. In any case, I thought this was useful knowledge in the sense that I don't have to go through today and the weekend filled with dread...

Thank you! But also: ugh.... :grumpy:

Applesaucy is the real MVP

UW should weigh how many times an applicant checks the portal into their decision-making process
I’d be accepted with full scholarship! They’d actually pay me to attend! (I almost wrote this in present tense, not conditional, but thought that might be triggering.)

Props to you for calling! I am going to take it easy and expect some form of notification on March 15th which is the AMCAS deadline

Hi everyone,

Just wondering how all my future Husky brothers and sisters are coming along with their E18 Compliance Checklist. I did the online HIPAA and Universal Precautions training this weekend after I got my ID and set up my email. Just waiting for the immunization forms to come out at this point. Trying to finish everything ASAP because this isn't something I want to be dealing with in June or July.

Same 🙂

Congrats to everyone for making it this far. Decisions should be out this week from the overall AMCAS rules.

I remember when I got my call back in 2013. I was out at dinner with my fiancée at the time, and we were talking about having to move but then also excited that UW would make up their minds. At that very moment, I got the call saying I was in. Medical school was amazing and UW prepped me well for starting residency. You’ll all do great.

Just take the week easy. Don’t stress too much. There isn’t anything you can do now.

JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL!

Could you or any other current students speak to the financial aid situation? I’m accepted at a WWAMI State (outside Washington) and I’ve heard so many conflicting reports regarding the generosity of financial aid. Thanks!

I got about $13000 in awards per year. They liked to give everyone the same amount. I’m not sure they have changed this since I was there.

Is this the same for OOR? hope they give more

When I was there they had waivers to bring OOS tuition to instate level, then they could also get the $13,000 per year which is awarded later in the year. I think some of this was going to be changed with their waivers but I never paid attention since it didn’t apply to me.

Yes, I believe we can get 10,000 in grant/tuition waiver money the first two years (9,000 tuition waiver + 1,000 from the SOM scholarship if you get that) and 13,000 the last two years. Not sure how OOR works since I'm in-state.

Got the email today saying that all of my pre-medical coursework had been verified. Anyone else at the same point? or do they send the information out to all of us at different times based on when we were accepted? Just want to make sure that I'm not missing anything.

I got it as well.

Again, all you get are loans. You will apply for scholarships through the school later. Everyone gets about the same amount but you have to apply at a later point in the year. Enjoy the loans. Welcome to medical school and your indentured servitude.

One of the docs I work with just told me we would all hear back next Wednesday. But I was confused and said national deadline is tmrw. He said oh maybe I forgot and could be this Wednesday.

So it’s either SUC this week and hear back next wed or our asses hearing back today.

Noooo ahahah I seriously can't take another week of this ****. I have a feeling his original intel (next Wed) is probably right though -- it's never been an all-at-once decision release, so I doubt everything is coming out today. Unless maybe per his intel, acceptances start today and other other stuff will all be done by next week. If someone wanted to call again... I didn't have to give my ID or name or anything lol. They have a canned, vague answer but if you gently push you can try to eke a little more info out 😀
I feel like we’re spy kids.
I always thought being a spy would be a lot more fun than this...

It seems as though these dates are just “recommendations” implying there aren’t consequences if they’re not met... dang. Super frustrating they are taking so long to get decisions out, especially if they’ve been done with Seattle interviews for months.

The way I understood it was that they had to issue acceptances by the 15th, but there isn't a deadline by which they need to let us know--praying they don't make us wait in agony another week though!

How would they issue acceptances without letting us know?

So are we thinking tonight? Tomorrow night? I need to mentally prepare myself lol

Does anyone know anything about the Rooster Apartments? I'm looking at living options and its seems nice on the website and is fairly close. Would appreciate any insight.

I just want to add the following for anyone that would be attending classes at the Seattle campus-

The 48 bus route runs along 23rd ave (on the other side of the Montlake Bridge). The 48 drops you right outside UW's med center. It seems to me that living within walking distance to 23rd along cap hill or Eastlake would make a solid quick commute.

Something to consider when looking for housing!

And also best of luck to the extremely neurotic applicants posting on here and waiting to hear back!! I'm looking forward to hearing good news!
