2018-2019 University of Michigan

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Has anyone with a deferred decision heard back yet? I got the deferred decision in December and all they said was that I would have a decision by the end of March.

I was just officially accepted today so I must just be jumping the gun

Congrats! Quite possible. I received my UMID a month after my acceptance. Sorry I should've mentioned that earlier!

Does anyone know what Aid is like for UMich? Do they give merit aid or is it all need-based and loans?

They give out merit aid. They also respond to negotiation based on a few people I know IRL and some MDapps profiles. Especially if you attend second look

Kind of surprised no one else has reported one since I assumed there would be a wave, but I was rejected two days ago (#MichiganMondays, smh). Gave up hope on this place a while ago though

Does anyone know if they are still giving out interviews

On their website it says they send out offers March 15th but have also heard of people like @LadyGlen who got theirs earlier. I think March 15th is when most/the latest you’ll hear. Because full financial aid packages go out at the beginning of April.

I wish I had known this, I would have filled out my financials earlier!

Oddly I haven't been rejected yet, but I'm not sure they are even still giving out IIs. Does anyone know if they are finished giving out interviews at this point?
+1. They’ll probably send out all the remaining R’s after their last interview date on Feb 1st. Maybe it’s possible they send out an II this coming Monday if anyone cancels

Last interview day is Feb 1st so I'm assuming interviews given now would be for canceled slots and on super short notice.

Received a Pre-II R on 1/25 and another one today. Just rubbing it in at this point.

lol well they basically tweeted out a rejection "Thank you for your interest in Michigan" so we can all commiserate together

Tracker updated:

508 interviews scheduled and 344 admission offers so far. Very surprised by number of admission offers, I would have thought they would have accepted less and waitlisted more people given the new rules.

Which new rules?

EDIT: Found my answer, financial aid estimates in April include need based aid, but it isn’t “officially” awarded until May.

So we don't get our packages in March then? Just scholarships offers?

You’ll get scholarship notifications and financial aid ESTIMATES which are usually the same as the actual amount of aid but it isn’t official until after you commit.

Not sure why I wasn’t included with the previous R wave, but I received that closure this afternoon. IS, complete in Sept. Best of luck to everyone else!

+1 on finally getting the official rejection email this afternoon. Applied MD/PhD at beginning of cycle, was transferred to MD-only first week of November. I believe Michigan's last interview date was 2/1 anyway!

Got that alma mater R recently as well.

Godspeed Michigan. I'll probably be getting out of state.
