I also got put on the alternate list!
+1I also got put on the alternate list!
Same here. Interviewed in September, but bitter at the world now.*sigh*
Withdraw tab disappeared this morning. Didn't make the Alternate List. To all the future pre-meds (with missing tabs) looking back to these SDN forums for confirmation, it's okay. You gave it your best shot. Know that, own that, and keep moving forward. :')
Edit: interviewed in September and got passed up all four waves.
Either orI’m at the gym and can’t check my portal. Can someone help me out? I got a portal change email. Does that mean waitlist or could it mean an R too?
if your withdraw tab disappeared earlier today, its most likely a rejection. Happened to me and some othersI’m at the gym and can’t check my portal. Can someone help me out? I got a portal change email. Does that mean waitlist or could it mean an R too?

Ahh I 100% understand. I wouldn’t be able to focusThanks for your help. I’m dying to know but don’t want to cut my workout short 🙁
ALT LIST. AHHHHHHHHH. Never been so excited to still be a maybe. Fiance and I almost fell off the couch screaming with joy. If you didn't get the response you were hoping for today my heart is with you and fingers-crossed everything works out as it should for each of us!!!
Didn't apply DO, but I believe they are separate application systems so I would count just MDAlternate list! For the "I have/have not been accepted elsewhere" question, are you guys counting DO programs? Or just MD?

Yup that or rejections. If I’m remembering correctly, this was around the time WL decisions came out in the last few years too
The WL is usually formed in mid March though? At least that’s what it looks like historically. I know a lot of people started getting pulled off starting in April last year
I think 75% of the class of from the WL according to msar and a couple of current students, so chances are good overall. I’ve been told it really depends on demographics at this point. They’re likely trying to match WLers with people who dropped out. There’s also 2 WL- IS and OOS. The OOS one usually moves faster
Kinda depressed about being put on alt list. I feel like there’s no hope in this app process, don’t know what to do 🙁

Just judging from previous years, I think it’s two weekswhen do they start pulling people off the waitlist? now or two weeks later (after the alternative list question expires)?

Last year @medschoolzombie said there was a singular waitlist, this year they’re saying otherwise so who knows. Maybe @Dean Mission can clairify this for usGot alt list here, kinda figured but still very excited to still be in the running! Is the MSAR figure with 75/100 being taken off the WL accurate? Does anyone know if there are any differences between OOS and IS WL acceptances?
I do not see it on the home page, but I do see it on the Alternate List tab (there are no longer options to choose from - it only lists my selection). It did seem like there were a fair amount of rejections yesterday, so maybe the WL isn't too huge lol. Also, did anyone get a confirmation message after submitting the alternative list form? Mine just now says "We have received your alternative choice of..."

I don't think they accept anything once the waitlist is formed since they stop meeting in mid march according to last year. I would just call to double check thoughHave searched years of previous threads and it seems VCU does not accept letters of intent or interest, only significant updates (pubs etc.)- anyone know how true this is?
Thanks!
And to everyone who didn’t get into the waitlist: I can attest firsthand (well, from my perspective) that this cycle was brutal. The brightest people I know didn’t get in anywhere yet. I met people during my interview who only got accepted to med school the 2nd or 3rd time applying. Good luck and I wish you the best- and myself, since this is no guarantee either!

So for the alt list, we just have to say whether or not we have been accepted to other schools? No letters of interest? Also, how significant is this information when they make the decisions?

Stupid question perhaps, but is anyone scared that they have to admit that they have 0 acceptances to stay on the Alt List? Would this make them more or less likely to accept me?
