Has anyone who received SS gotten an interview? Looks like the SC people get the interview, but I've been stuck on SS since first week of September and still nothing

I was on MR for the longest time then one day randomly checked the portal and saw the status was MV. Don't know if it went to SS or SC before that though. Somebody came up with an interesting theory in one of the above posts but I wouldn't pay it too much heed man. This $hit will drive you crazy if you think too much into it. Good luck!

Wait what's MV lol, haven't seen that before

MV = Med School Invite to Interview. Don't know how they come with these initials but that's what it means lol

Congrats on the IIs! How far out are they scheduling?

It seems like people getting accepted this week are the ones who got SC status back in october. I got SC status a couple weeks ago (last week of november), so maybe there's still another wave, otherwise there would've been no point giving people like me SC.

Is it safe to assume that it’s a silent rejection if someone is on MR still at this point after being complete late August or early September?

I would honestly stay hopeful because there are a few people on this forum who went straight from MR to interview. Don't give into this stupid SC, SS, MR jargon which we dont know the meaning of. This is the time where this process is really testing our patience and sanity BUT we pray and stay hopeful 🙂

Thanks for the words of encouragement. It’s definitely a long and stressful process. Ahaha wish there wasn’t just radio silence from most schools.

You're welcome 🙂 It definitely is but I think thats why I love SD because we can support and encourage each other. I am a PhD graduate, completed late September and still waiting from most of the schools I applied to. I am not giving up because hopefully in the new year, we will hear back regardless of what the outcome is. Keep your head up, something positive will come 🙂

What are some pros for living in Detroit?
To the user who said food.........
Idk man. It depends on where you’re from. If you hail from Cali, NYC, Chicago, or Philly, food will not be your selling point. What will be a selling point are the (comparatively) cheap housing, beautiful downtown district, amazing patient community, friendly and family-like environment, and the casinos/bars. Also, we’ve been getting a lot of celebrities lately performing in Ford Field. If you’re not into those kind of performances, there’s also a pretty live jazz scene and orchestra performances in both downtown and midtown.

I don't know about all that man. I'm from Cali but even I was very impressed by the middle eastern cuisine over there.

If food = middle eastern cuisine, then sure. But the Caribbean food is crap, the West African food is absent, trying to find halal? good luck, trying to find good pizza? Better off driving down to Chicago, want to scope out some Mexican food? Venture over to Mexicantown and bask in its mediocre quality. I could go on and on and on. Food is definitely not a selling point. Perhaps if I were from a smaller city, I’d feel different

Can't log onto the portal. Anyone else experiencing this?

Never had Carribean or West African food but I suppose I would miss some good home cooked Mexican food. That is fasho

Any ideas when the next admissions decision day could be? (post-interview)

Are there seriously no train stations or taxi services in Detroit? Was talking to this guy who did nothing but trash Detroit lol.

There is ENDLESS halal food about 10 min away from detroit in Dearborn. Delicious middle eastern food from so many locally owned authentic restaurants
