2019-2020 Rush

For the letter of recommendations requirement I am submitting 3 individual letters. I know that on the questionnaire ,for the letters of recommendation requirement on the secondary, you were supposed to designate which letters you want to be read if you "submitted 3 or more letters". However, I accidentally clicked on the save button before specifying the 3 letters I want to be read and the page locked itself for further editing. If I only am submitting exactly 3 letters should I even worry about contacting them to fix this?

If you just have 3 letters, i think you're fine.

Completed my app a few hours ago, got the complete email so hopefully they show some love
Was this different from the submitted email? I got that one on 7/16 and it stays "Application File Complete" on the portal, but no actual confirmation/complete email.

Does any know the phone number to the admissions office? I'm having trouble contacting them through email.

I emailed them over a week ago and didn’t hear back either

When I emailed them, it took them two weeks to respond to me. They don't provide a phone number to call for whatever reason

Hi all, I received the secondary 7/16 and was hoping to submit today - is that too late? Took me a while to figure out what to discuss for some of the prompts and didn't want to waste my money submitting bad essays.

It's not too late. I went on Rush's website and they accept secondaries all the way until November I believe. Some schools have quick secondary deadlines but this isn't one of them. I haven't started my RUSH secondary yet. lol.

No secondary for me (MCAT just shy of the minimum) - but I visited RUSH back in June for a "Find Your Rush" session, and it felt like an awesome school with a lot of connections and opportunities to explore the kind of physician you want to become. Admissions team was very friendly, supportive, sharp, and encouraging. And Chicago's awesome, so... 😀

I had a horrible dream where I got rejected pre-II by this school and ran to check my email this morning :dead:
What’s better than being woken up by a rejection haha? Funny that you ran to check your email after that lol. I would have done the same.

I have been trying to contact admissions about a question about my application but they haven't responded (6 days), should I email them again or wait it out?

Last year people with superstats [super high GPA and MCAT] got II this week and then people with a bit lower scores but still competitive got them the week after!

Thanks! So we should get ready to check our email every minute of the hour 😉. You know that II is gonna come soon.

Hey,

So I was verified 7/23 and never heard anything from Rush. This is the last secondary I'm waiting on, do you guys think it would make sense to email or call Rush to see if I was screened out or if this is some sort of oversight? I'm just surprised I'd be screened out already if that were the case.

Does everybody's status still say "application file complete" or will it change to "under review"?

congrats all with II's! Just curious, I know Rush is huge on community service - how many hours did y'all have?
Also curious about this. And if people thought they had other stuff that made them stand out at Rush specifically

If we’re combining clinical and nonclinical, I had an okay amount - between 1k and 1.5k hours (to stay anonymous). I swear I don’t have a cushy lifestyle lol I still worked multiple part-time jobs just to combat that belief

Gosh, I know Rush’s averages for volunteer hours are higher than most schools, but 1k-1.5k seems like an insane amount for a trad applicant. I volunteered what I thought to be extensive all through undergrad and barely reached 500 hours... yikes!

Congratulations to you!!

I didn't get a II here (Fingers crosses y'all) but 1k is fairly normal no? Google added clinical and non clinical which is roughly how mine looks with about 600 NC and 700 C. I feel like thats pretty normal for premeds

Definitely not “normal” if you were pre-med but had to work full-time or even part-time. Hopefully schools that emphasize community service still consider this...

I worked part time through freshman and sophomore years and then closer to full-ish time my next two years and then currently work and volunteer this year. My apologies if I offended you. That's just what I believed to be what was expected of me because of the expectations that my adviser sort of heaped on.

Oh it was no offense, sorry! I just wanted to shed light on there probably being a huge range of what could be considered normal. That's awesome that you were able to work closer to full time and volunteer as much. I just know a lot of people, including myself, who wish they could've focused solely on pre-med activities rather than mostly on making a living.

I love how polite these threads are lol. I'm also really hoping for an II here so it's good to hear about volunteer hours, though hopefully the quality of the experience matters along with just the hour count.
Honestly I don't think I have more than 400 total volunteer hours so I'd say they definitely prioritize quality of experiences than hours. Looking at what other people are posting I'm starting to think I got my II by mistake but I'll take it! haha
