2019-2020 Rush

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was complete 7/31, but I wouldn’t read too much into it. I looked at last year’s thread and there was nothing about this email, so don’t worry!

This email is likely the mcw email equivalent of that small pool one. Some folks got it and got a II some didn't and got a II some got it and didn't get an II yet. It aint something to parse into a tragic oversight that had damned you to purgatory.

My thoughts exactly.

Complete 7/22; Under review email /update email +1

Received an email (but at 3pm, so not as early as the other folks here ) - was complete 7/29

Complete 8/4; +1 email received.

Did not love that they gave the only info we cared about at the end of the email lol.
+1 complete 8/5 is anyone going to use the update opportunity to write a letter of interest if we don't have much to update on? or are those used primarily post interviews.

What was that email though? To tell me nothing has changed? Because of a late LOR, I was technically complete by 8/20. But submitted my secondary 7/16.

I tried to make it REALLY clear but you know what. I shall add the vital "/s"

Lol I wish people would just scroll a few posts up to read the discussion rather than jumping to conclusions. I did not receive an email either, but oh well! We’re still in the game until we get a rejection! The neuroticism is really high. I think we need to relax a bit 🙂

Perhaps those who got the email met their absurd 1000+ hr community service requirements?
Part of the email is " Please rest assured that your application is still under consideration." --- so doesn't that imply that those that didn't receive it (and were complete at similar times) are not under consideration? DON'T SHOOT ME - genuinely just curious....
is this the first year they are doing this?

I have like 550 hours. Definitely not 1000+

Not sure. I haven’t gotten the email and I have 1500+ hours for both community service clinical.

Just dont think too much about it. If you havent gotten rejected it, you still have a chance.

Damn it - maybe it has to do with a certain MCAT/GPA cutoff so people don't start withdrawing their applications after getting IIs from other places? I have no idea tbh

At this time, this seems by far the most accurate. Take the email with a grain of salt.

Seems like this might be the first year they are doing this. Browsed through last year’s thread and nothing mentioned. I speculate that those who received the email might have already gone through the review process and are put in a pile for later review because the school liked what they saw.

Okay yall, I just received the email, so everyone is going to get one eventually!

Thank you for submitting your secondary application and considering Rush Medical College as an institution to pursue your medical education.
At Rush Medical College you will have the opportunity to work with experienced faculty members who are also accomplished practitioners, putting your classroom learning to use right here in our Medical Center and lab. Our faculty truly practice what they teach, using the latest medical research and treatments to bring real-world experience to the classroom. At Rush, you will be supported by accomplished professionals as you gain experience to take the next step in your medical career and make a difference in the lives of others.
At this time, I am writing to update you on the status of your application. The Committee on Admissions is working diligently to review applications and determine which applicants will receive an interview invitation. As previously mentioned, this process can take several weeks, as each application is personally read by a member on the Admissions Committee. Please rest assured that your application is still under consideration. While we understand that this may be a stressful period, we greatly appreciate your patience.

exactly my thoughts. i dont know exactly what the email said, but the posts in this thread use language that is similar to "hold for re-review" at other schools

edit: nvm saw the posts above me; it sounds like a generic status update lol

Literally the 30 posts prior to yours are discussing exactly this email. Correction: 40-50 posts

+1 for the email. Don’t do this to me Rush, I’m really excited about you.

Edit: perhaps this isn’t a pre-II hold like I had assumed.

so looks like it's being sent to everyone who received an "under review" email in the past

Received email this afternoon about still being under review for II. Complete email on 8/7. I have <100 actual volunteer or "community service" hours, but have other activities I considered community service.

I got the under review email in the past but didn't get this email. Maybe people get it after they've initially past through your app and decided not to reject you (yet lol). Maybe the people that haven't gotten the email are in line to go through the initial screen/in the R pile. Who knows with this process

By “under review” Email, are you talking about the complete Email?

going through posts in this thread, i believe this school sends a separate email once you actually go under review. its different from the complete email. someone correct me if im wrong, as i have only received the "complete" email myself.
