I was going to interview but I went online and saw that their mascot is apparently just the letters "MD" with eyes and a stethoscope so I'm just gonna take the R on this one.

Yeah apparently they don’t accept pre-II updates but I’ve sent them two sooo lol just update them and yolo.

Downstate is by and far my top choice, I was beginning to lose hope but eeeeeek!

The earliest dates I saw were all the way in March.

I sent a quick email to my peer interviewer. I didn't send one to my faculty interviewer since they specifically requested not to receive one... Which is risky but whatevs

I believe their site says review of apps are random, so you being complete earlier than me doesnt necessarily mean your app was reviewed before mine.

Yeah their system is a modified rolling admission. Not entirely sure what that means but applications are not reviewed based on when you were complete.

I stayed at the dorms across the street from the school. They advertised it as student hosting but I had a single dorm to myself.

Does anyone know up to when SUNY downstate offers interviews for applicants? On their website it states that “Interviews are scheduled beginning after Labor Day and continue into the first half of the spring semester.” but wasn’t sure if anyone knew like when exactly they end interview invites lol.

I emailed them after about three weeks just to make sure I hadn't missed any correspondence and they said that I should still expect a student to contact me re: the peer-to-peer conversation but due to the high volume it takes time. At this point its been almost six weeks and still no word. Has this happened to anyone else? Any advice?

I would probably check in again. I interviewed at Downstate on 12/18, and my peer-to-peer interviewer contacted me to schedule a conversation last week.

Over the phone. Mine lasted about 10-15 minutes and was like 3-4 standard interview behavioral questions + the student will answer any questions you have about the school.

You should definitely continue to follow up... My peer to peer reached out to me either the night of or the day after my interview. We got the phone call done that same week.

I just had my interview and they didn’t say anything about no post II updates. I was planning on uploading it to the portal. Did anyone else have a different experience?

I sent in an update via portal and email after my interview too - according to the AMCAS FAQ (question #8) they accept post-interview updates

That’s weird. I mean if you want to send it send it, I just remember them saying something along the lines of updates wouldn’t be looked at after the interview unless it was grades
