Are all the questions the same for everyone? If they are, like... can you post them here lol

The dean browses and responds to this thread. The recordings are timed, and you only get 1 minute to think about an answer to the questions after seeing them. Why would anyone ever post the questions, thereby handicapping themselves and not to mention potential legal trouble, to something that is obviously supposed to gauge applicants in a spontaneous/organic response method lol

Has anyone successfully used a MAc to answer the audio response questions recently? I have a macbook pro laptop that has a built-in mic that I am planning to use to do the audio response but TCU strongly recommend using PC. I do have a PC at home but just dont have a mic. Not sure if I should just use the Mac or be cautious and go get a mic.
I used a Mac without an external mic and it worked fine!

I said that facetiously. I had to do voice overs for school projects and they generally don’t have good results.

Someone must have not been following this thread when the dean was answering people’s questions regarding this 😉. It’s all good. This long and frustrating process can get to the best of us.

Theres an audio test that lets you record multiple times-it will visually show you your audio levels.

Has anyone received an interview invitation? I completed my secondary on Saturday (8/31) and am just curious about the turn around time.

pretty fun secondary! a bit awkward at first. I, of course, feel like I did terribly. I hope I made a good case for myself and for my fit!
I feel like everyone most likely thought they did terribly. I keep having flashbacks to things I said, wished I had said, or wished I had approached differently. I try to remind myself that if they wanted perfection, they would have given you the questions ahead of time to prepare and let you record multiple tries. Don't worry! Everyone probably feels the same way 🙂 It's much different talking to a computer screen for 3 minutes than a person, so I would be willing to bet the situation was unfamiliar and challenging for most!

For sure. Good reminder. They know it’s new to most of us.

Oh my goodness, I accidentally closed my browser when uploading the last response 🙁 does that mean my last response is practically blank??? Sigh my fat fingers...

I just finished the secondary. Here are the questions:
1. Who would win in a fight, a polar bear or Hagrid?
2. What is your mother's maiden name and the last four digits of your SSN?
3. How many minutes do you allow to pass before you refresh your email in hopes of hearing from a med school?
4. If you were to take the MCAT right now, how many points would you drop from the score you turned in?
5. What would your most recent ex-boy/girlfriend say is your worst quality?

I know. Kind of weird for med school questions if you ask me. Good luck everyone.

I went full-on stream-of-conscious of those...yikes. That was a fun secondary compared to the traditional ones though. Felt like I could showcase myself in a more genuine way. Definitely wish more schools treated secondaries like this.

How different are "SELF-DIRECTED LEARNING READINESS SCALE" and "JEFFERSON SCALE OF EMPATHY" to Myers Briggs scale?

Fun secondary, however I didnt realize the # of questions and I messed up HARD on the last one because I thought I was done lol and hit next not begin :/ Arguably the most important question too sigh. Intense asf though lol

Lol. Im sure you did fine.

I wonder if they are still having their first interview day September 9th, that would be a crazy turnaround time!

Im from the northeast lol you bet Im catching the first flight down to fort worth if they wanted to interview me and its the only day they gave me

is the "Audio Test" really a test and not part of the essay?

If you go back to that page, it would indicate with a "completed" label if you completed it.

Felt similar to me. Asks you to rate how much you agree with a statement related to personality traits from "strongly disagree" to "strongly agree". Although there were quite a few medicine-related q's that obviously don't come up with MG. I felt like I could have just told them I'm a MB unicorn and have done with it.

We pulled off on hosting an interview day on Sept 9th, a decision made for the consideration of travel expenses for our visiting students. Our first interview day is Sept 23 and I anticipate invites will be sent out by the end of next week.

Also, the "test" audio question is NEVER reviewed and considered in our process. DO NOT spend any extra energy to make it a "solid recording." Reviewing 15 minutes of recordings is plenty of work for us.

I thought the test was just seeing if your mic was registering in the little soundwave box, and thought the test question was actually question 1. Was how I miscounted and got thrown off by the last one and botched it lol :/

God im overthinking a voice recording so much lmfao, wonder how ill feel after any interviews I get. Ill go for a walk now bye guys

Will apps be reviewed in order of submission or based on other factors?

Once supplemental is received and reviews begin, it is likely the process deviates from the exact "time stamp" - it is not uncommon to review and hold applications for further review while others submitted later get invited, so don't read too much into the order post-supplemental invitation. You will drive yourselves crazy trying to discern your competitiveness based on submission dates.

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING SUPPLEMENTALS: if you encounter an issue during the supplemental, DO NOT submit your application. Instead, contact our office and we will respond during business hours (8-5p) and we promise to help remedy the situation. Submitting when you know an audio recording did not save and then asking for a redo is not preferred.

Recieved secondary on 08/29 and just submitted today. Was nervous about the audio but ended up not being bad at all!!

I was really stuck on the first one, but then I quoted book 7, page 727-728 (not to mention the astronomy tower final in book 5, ofc) and I decided that with enough impetus, Hagrid would win, but on colder terrain the polar bear might prevail.

For pre-requisites.... as long as they are completed before matriculation we should be okay? Missing the genetics and physiology requirement but plan on taking both during the spring. @SOM Admissions
