Any word on secondaries? It seems late but I haven't seen an update. I think that I pass the minimum requirements with MCAT: 513 and GPA:3.73. Did I just not get a secondary? Thanks for any input.

Hi All - my name is Dr. Tara Cunningham and I am the associate dean for admissions and student diversity at the School of Medicine. We are excited for the 2020 Admission Cycle and will begin sending supplemental applications after our final step of testing is complete. As some may already know, we are a high-tech supplemental that will require your submission of unique audio-based responses in lieu of written essays. We experienced a few issues with MAC users last cycle and want to make extra sure these issues are resolved with our programmer. The supplemental will take about 45-minutes to complete and once submitted, the final review for an interview invitation will occur. Our first interview day is Monday, Sept 9 and in total, we have 12 interview days that will end in early-March. We interview on Monday's and the day starts around 8a and ends around 4p. Acceptance offers are sent on October 15 and approximately every two weeks thereafter through mid-March. We are a rolling admission and will have outright acceptance offers still to give through Mid-March. Alternates for the class are identified at the end of the season and the list is unranked. We pulled very few students from the alternate list last year (fewer than a 10).

Audio-only - this makes for a more comfortable environment for applicants and helps you just be yourself without worry about how you look. what's in the background, etc.

I think their website said they had no plans to increase. Also im curious how much that first year free tuition played a role for the inaugural class and if the yield will be lower this year. Regardless would love to spend the next 4 in texas and this would be the only way I do it.

I believe if I'm not mistaken they opened their application in like November or something? So If I had to guess there will probably be well above 1400 applicants this year since presumably more applicants this cycle are aware of the school.

I didn't notice a change on the website. It says 498 and 3.0 and that everyone with these stats will receive a secondary. The screening section seems to be talking about post secondary submission...

BUT I wonder if applicants are receiving secondaries based on interview preference since their first interviews are supposed to be September 9th. @SOM Admissions is this the case?

No changes have been made to our supplemental application - 40th percentile MCAT (498 this year) and a 3.0 combined GPA - or to the screening information on the website.

Anyone that does not move forward at any step along the way will be notified.

The first and very small round of supplemental invites were sent by receive date and "local" to maximize invites for the Sept 9th interview day. All others will be invited over the next week by receive date. There is no reason at all to read anymore into the order of our supplemental application requests - we start small to ensure we are not overwhelming our servers. That's it.

Each level is conducted separately and involves only the information needed to inform the level. Each level cascades into a final assessment of the applicant for an interview. Some information is reserved for post-interview reviews.
