Looking back, I would go to the school with the cheapest total cost of attendance. DO school is DO school, and your future success is completely up to you. Neither of the Touro's will help you match neurosurgery/dermatology at Stanford, but they also won't stop you from giving it your best shot either. If the total cost of attendance is similar between the two, I'd go wherever you'd be happiest living for 2+ years.

I agree with what was said above me^^. From my own experience and anecdotes I've heard, many of my classmates here at Touro CA chose CA because they want to have a better shot at CA residencies as well. And our school does have an outstanding match rate to show for it. I don't know much about NV's campus or their program. I do know that our didactic curriculum is a bit different. Here at CA, we learn everything by systems, meaning that we learn each organ system's physiology/path/clinical together. We also finish all of our gross anatomy in the first semester.
I'm not 100% certain about NV, but I believe they do a full year of anatomy, and they also do all systems physiology in the first year, and path/clinical in the second year.

I interviewed at NV and CA, and I am a CA resident choosing Touro CA.

This is just my two cents, but I liked Touro CA a lot better! While CA has a bit of a strange campus, I still liked it a lot better than NV, which is basically a renovated strip mall warehouse with no windows haha.

Plus, I think NorCal will be a lot nicer place for me to live than NV. Tbh, I'm not sure there is an awful lot to do in Henderson, aside from casinos/buffets/shows on the Strip and hiking in the desert. Other than the Strip, Henderson seems more or less like a really basic suburb with shopping malls and fast food restaurants. NorCal has the ocean, mountains, forests, San Francisco and other major cities nearby, fun breweries and coffee shops, things like that. Though, I guess it depends on how much you love the nightlife of Las Vegas, but personally I think I'd enjoy NorCal a little more. (Sorry if I am biased toward California, maybe if someone is from NV they can tell us a little more about living in Henderson?) I'm from SoCal but I find NorCal to have some of the most beautiful nature and weather :happy:

I also hope to do my residency in CA post-med school, so I think that will be easier to achieve at Touro CA. From most places I've read, if you are from CA, you'll probably want to go to Touro CA. That being said, there is nothing wrong with going to your Touro NV interview and seeing how you feel!

Anyways, if there are anymore current Touro CA students lurking on this thread, I'd love to hear about your good and bad opinions on the school!

Is it worth submitting anything if we don't have much to update them with? I barely got some extra volunteering hours and was working full time up until the COVID pandemic. Both of these EC's are in my app already

It never hurts to send an update letter if you have something substantial to add. If you think it'll make a difference, then go ahead! We do interview up through the end of May. However, considering how late it is in the cycle, it's okay to be hopeful but realistic with your expectations. Best of luck

Got waitlisted too, but medium alternate though :( This is my top choice.
Do any current students know students getting off the medium alternate waitlist?

I know a lot of you guys are saying you're on the wait list. Just FYI, you can expect to see some wait list decisions being made mid to late June and even in July as more students drop their acceptances. We've even had some wait listed students invited to come to orientation in the event that some accepted students do not show. But don't just sit around waiting for an answer, continue working on improving your apps and reapplying for the next cycle! I highly recommend (and this is no surprise) that everyone applies as early as possible. I understand you want your application to look perfect when sending it in, but you can always submit what you have and then add update letters to your file and that can only benefit you.

Has anyone heard anything regarding financial aid? Are there any steps to take after applying to fafsa, completing the entrance counseling and signing the promissory notes?

According to the admissions counselor, they are giving out the last remaining invites within the next two weeks and then they are done!

They said they'd start looking at the WL once the interview cycle ends in late-May/early June

Does anyone know where we are supposed to upload the documents like tax returns and citizenship info, I click the link on the checklist and check my portal but I don’t see where we are supposed to upload it?

I'm sorry. If this makes you feel any better, I am on the waitlist somewhere else and they've gone through and offered a lot more spots than in previous years. Hopefully it'll be the same for us!

They’re anticipating a hybrid curricular design. So most classes are online, but hands on labs and exams are on campus

I've heard good things about Rocky Vista! My friend had an interview there! It's nice and close to Denver, which is beautiful and the program itself is strong from what I've heard. But I'm also waitlisted and biased about hoping to get in here:rofl:
 
So arent they supposed to start sending updates to WL students pretty soon...

I'm glad she has been responding to you at least. I remember her mentioning we could reach out to her but she hasn't responded to any of my e-mails. Not sure what that means for me. lol

I did e-mail Lynn and she let me know that there has been very little movement on the waitlist. So at least we know that much.

As in the class is full??? It looks like they haven't sent acceptances since ~February
