There is a “confirmed” date on my portal of 10/3. Does this mean anything?

Has anyone reached out to admissions to see if they’ll be accepting off the wait list before April? I know they tried that a few years ago, but not sure where they’ll stand this year.

I asked on interview day and they basically said that its possible that a few get off the waitlist throughout the winter, but not very likely. WL-er with fingers crossed here, though.

You didn't bomb it if you were waitlisted! I'm sure you rocked it. When did you interview?
It felt like I bombed it. Ran out of time for 4 rounds, awkward silence/endings during 2 :whoa:, read one of the instructions incorrectly and answered the whole prompt wrong, and jumbled up all my words. It was definitely stressful for my first MMI but it was a good learning experience. I've done 3 other MMIs since and have done a lot better. :claps:

Interviewed beginning of October

I totally get that. I'm glad it was a good learning experience for you! Wishing you all of the luck getting off the WL!

Did anyone send thank you letters to the Dean of Admissions and others that interacted with us during the interview?

I didn’t send anything because I heard for MMI it doesn’t make as much sense to do so. Maybe that was a mistake... my day is supposedly hearing back by the end of this week so it’s a bit late now.

Is there a time frame to upload the letter of interest after being placed on the WL? I'm not sure if it's more beneficial to upload it immediately, or wait to add some updates to the letter, considering they said they'll start pulling people from the WL in May.

I don’t believe so because I didn’t see anything in the WL letter but I probably won’t send mine till maybe March-April

From what I remember during the interview they don't care when you upload the letter of interest as long as its there before they review your applicant file again for waitlist movement.

In other words come April/May when waitlist movement happens if you don't have a letter of intent uploaded then you're going to get passed over. They also said that you can upload now and update it later as things change. You may want to call to confirm this, but I believe if you reupload a file it just replaces the previous uploaded one.

I interviewed on Monday and I'm pretty sure the admissions office mentioned that they needed a letter of interest/intent within four weeks of getting on the waitlist to remain 'active' in the waitlist pool

If they wanted that, they should have explicitly said that in their WL letter. I was their 1st interview date and they didn’t have much to say about acceptances or waitlists

I just called them and she said it needs to be in there before they look at waitlist applicants. I asked so I can assume it won’t be looked at again till April 30th and she said that has happened in the past, but it has also been earlier. So she said the earlier the better. Take that how you want

yeah that is along the lines with what she said at my interview date

There have traditionally been a sizeable number of interviews Jan-March (I interviewed in Feb), and a pretty good chunk of my class interviewed after the new year. I'm not sure with the change in admissions leadership this year if that will continue the same way, but it wouldn't surprise me if it did. Keep your heads up guys.

I know interviewees aren't supposed to talk about the MMI scenarios, so I had a couple of technical questions. Are we allowed to take notes for the MMI and does anyone recall how much time is given per station? Thanks!!

Waitlisted post-II. I'm super bummed because this has been my only interview so far...It doesn't help that their waitlist isn't even ranked and they seem to put a lot of people on it. I'm feeling extremely discouraged.

WL as well, but proud of myself for not bombing my first MMI! Overall, a pretty bittersweet feeling reading that email. Trying to stay optimistic since a significant portion of the first year class comes from the WL 🙂

Have there been post-interview rejections or does pretty much everyone who interviews end up on the waitlist?
I'm sure there were like 1-2 on this page. Definitely saw some on the 2018-2019 page. I'm sure a lot of applicants don't post their R's on here, or even have SDN accounts.
