Just got one as well! Submitted in mid august. How many get showcase invites?

Well this is a really not fun feeling. Complete 9/17, no showcase invite.
Congratulations to all of you.
Don't worry, they have three rounds total, each with the same number of students. It's totally possible that you will still be invited!

Where do you guys think Carle is going to rank after their first class graduates? The school itself seems really impressive since it's part of a massive network, their current students are doing well on practice exams, and of course the engineering aspect — just curious what residency programs will think. I wonder if it is going to be bottom tier, middle tier, or like the MIT of medical schools?

My opinion is it'll be around the 70s-80s

Sounds about right, but I think it'll take a while and they'll start converging at that spot. Unfortunately it's just really hard to unseat the more established programs. What carle has going for it is a flaship state school. What it doesn't have going for it is location. What are the clinical rotations like?

For those who went to the last showcase, was there a project-based learning exercise? I know in past years there was, but couldn't find any indication of it for this year

No, they weren't able to facilitate those in a virtual setting. I think they have videos on how PBL sessions will look like at Carle Illinois. Check those out if you wanna understand them in depth. They did stress though that while there are other modes of education delivery (including traditional), their curriculum is heavily focused on the PBL exercises.

Also, the faculty at the showcase did say that they are trying to put together an in-person second look event for admitted students (COVID permitting). So if you were on the fence about PBL, this event would probably give you a better opportunity to experience it.

Hi!! Congrats on everyone's showcase invites. I was just wondering if anyone knows when Carle releases acceptances? Is it all at once after the three showcases are over (like in the Spring)?

I think they said a few acceptances will be extended after each showcase. the majority will be released around mid-February.

Can anyone confirm that they've even sent out any acceptances though? It's been quite on this thread about acceptances.

They haven’t sent any yet! At the first showcase, they said that the first acceptances would be sent out the week before Thanksgiving at the earliest.

They said the first ones would go our earliest around Thanksgiving time so wouldn’t expect anyone to hear back until from this week onwards

They also seemed very unsure if any would be sent in 2020 at all - to clarify. They said it may very well end up being all A's being sent in 2021

So, I got an email from the Director of Admissions today saying that my primary got "stuck in [their] system" and that they are inviting me to complete a secondary and apologize for the error yada yada. Can someone just reassure me that everything is going to be okay lol 🙁 I didn't prepare anything for this secondary as I figured at this point I had been rejected or something. Also pretty scared to meet with the Director (if it comes to that, we might just correspond by email), as I have not had any interviews yet and don't really know how to prepare. Any advice is welcome, I am just a bundle of nerves 🙁

Carle has a set threshold score above which all applicants will be invited to the showcase. As long as your app is scored high, you can be invited to the third showcase with no repercussions!

accepted student from 2019-2020.. something very similar happened to me, and I never had to meet with anyone! i just submitted my secondary and eventually got in. Just reiterate your interest in the program and try not to worry too much.. the fact someone reached out is a good thing!

Anyone with no engineering experience receive a showcase invite? I was very surprised it happened to me, but don't know how good my chances of getting in are, given that.

I also have no engineering experience. I definitely felt like one of the very few people who didn’t at the showcase but hopefully means I still have a good chance.

That's good to know- do attendees actually get a chance to talk much at the showcase or is it mainly to learn more about the school and have your questions answered, if any?

They set aside a portion to introduce yourself to your small group members. Otherwise there’s a bit of dead time where you can talk to each other. Mostly learn about the school for the rest of the session though

So i got a showcase invite last week and they have a lot of introductory videos that are very detailed and explain many of the school perks. How is this different than the information presented during showcase? I understand we get to talk to faculty and students but the event is nearly 6 hours?? Were there any team based learning exercises? I saw on old threads that was a thing during showcase. Any info would be appreciated thanks!

TBH the showcase was a bit exhausting because there was so much Q&A time - my showcase had separate Q&A sessions/socialization time with applicants, current students, a faculty member, AND admissions deans. No TBL exercises. There isn't too much new information presented during the showcase (apart from an academic support presentation), and they expect you to come with lots of questions prepared. I would say get really specific with your questions as it will really help you gauge if Carle is a good fit for you.

So does anyone know if any acceptances were sent out around this week like they said they might?

Did anyone for the second Showcase get the email with the zoom link or schedule yet? Do we know when we should be getting that?

The email says "A few days before the Virtual Showcase you will receive an individualized schedule and the Zoom link you will need to connect" so probably by Friday we'll receive it.

I can't remember what they said exactly, was it end of November we might hear back?
They said possibly Thanksgiving at the earliest, but even then they might wait until February once all the showcases are done before giving the first acceptances. My neurotic self can't handle this uncertainty

Has anyone who submitted their secondary after 9/18 received a showcase invite?
Just wondering if it’s worth holding out hope

I'm not sure how helpful this is but I was complete 9/28 and I emailed admissions and she told me my application was still being reviewed and that there's another showcase in January! Maybe you could email and ask if your application is still under review?

P.S. Also an engineer that is now deciding to go back to medical school to hopefully be a doctor! Good luck to you!

Can those attending the second showcase ask if they have sent out any decisions yet? Thanks!
They said most offers won't be sent out until February, and that late December would be the earliest. I'm not totally sure about the terminology, but I believe offers refers only to acceptances (perhaps Rs may come earlier?), and I'm not sure whether this is true of only students in the second info session, or if it's for every info session invitee.

Did anyone send thank you notes or know where to send them to?
I just sent a short email to the admissions committee -- not sure if that was the right way to do it but that's what I did!

THE SILENCE IS KILLING MEEEE. I never expected to like this program as much as I do, and I would just like to know how things are going. Like, should I plan on the R? ghsogihsohfsohsp
