I am confused...based on the sample interview schedule, the last solo interview is only fifteen minutes. My practice answers to the major interview questions are like 1.5 - 2.5 minutes each...am I supposed to shorten everything down to like under 1 minute per answer??? I can't fit anything in that!

Also when do the social invites typically come out prior to the interview day?

I personally didn't condense my answers at my interview, I'm sure the interviewers expect to get through only a few questions because of the time limit, so don't stress!

Okay yeah that makes sense, thanks so much for the tip!

I know obviously not everyone uses sdn, but I think only 3 ppl on here have gotten As so far so I hope they haven't finished calling everyone...

Sorry to hear about all the post-II R's! Still early though, i'm sure you all will do great at other interviews!

Just curious: what interview date did you guys have?

I was on the alternate list last year and they rank you into three tiers. Later in the cycle, they’ll tell you which tier. If you’re in the top tier, there’s definitely still a good chance ! It’s definitely not over yet! 🙂 You got this!
what exactly do you mean by "later in the cycle", like in January or something?

Got put on the alternate list as well! The email mentioned that the list is unranked, so I'm not sure how that works?

For those who were accepted or rejected from 9/25, what was your residency status for Colorado?

Hi! CU is my top choice by a long shot. Based on your experience with your class, what kind of students do you see as being a good "fit" for CU? What's the culture and camaraderie like, especially given COVID? Favorite things about CU?

[PS: Good job adducting and medially rotating that hip, Magnus. TY for your service to keep me putting one foot in front of the other]
Those are great questions. I was lucky enough to get a decent amount of interviews and get a feel for the differences in the atmosphere at various medical schools. More than any other school I visited, the atmosphere at CU was chill. I hate to say that about such a serious and professional endeavor, but really, they are looking for people who will get along well with the culture of Colorado and CU. Many other schools I visited had more of a pretentious feel to be honest (though I still loved the schools). So really just be yourself on interview day and be yourself when you start here next year!

In terms of medicine, they have a large focus on primary care and service to the underprivileged. There are many groups at CU that offer services to the communities in Aurora which is historically very disadvantaged (especially near campus). There is also the student-run clinic which has the mission as well. If that is your thing, you will have many opportunities here. That said, if you are interested in non-primary care specialties, you will have plenty of opportunities there as well. Many of us have every intention to go that route.

The camaraderie is great here at CU. I can only speak for my class, but we all put in a lot of effort to connect and we are all working through the difficulties of med school as a team. Though much of it is remote and over Zoom, we have had plenty of opportunities to safely meet in person too! During anatomy block, we had 3 or 4 on-campus sessions per week, which was more than I expected given the state of things. Everyone is divided into groups within your class and into "families" that are comprised of people from 1st-4th years. Everyone here is trying to help each other out, I've felt nothing other than that. The faculty is awesome. There were some complaints about that on last year's thread from a disgruntled student, but I have found none of that to be true. Everyone here is your advocate and it is apparent that students' success is their number 1 priority. I have no complaints!

Did anyone from 9/25 not get a phone call on Friday and still get in? In other words, does Dr. SooHoo call everyone who got an A on the same day? Wondering if not getting a phone call next Friday or whenever would mean I didn't get in (I interviewed on 10/9).

any other IS applicants yet to receive an II?

I'm IS. 516, 3.8, half URM and I haven't heard anything back from Colorado. I'm having a great cycle in regards to IIs so I'm pretty confident that my app isn't a complete dumpster fire.

According to the Post-II Acceptance spreadsheet....CUSOM accepts 420 applicants. They have interviewed 60. We have a long road ahead of us. Despite everyone's fear that admissions are proceeding as if it we're not in a global pandemic.....WE ARE! Hopefully another wave of II comes out soon.

EDIT: 420 is for Cincinnati, not CUSOM. 317 acceptances according to tracker!

Received an II. LM low 70s. OOS ORM.

Edit because I also just wanted to say that I got my first II of the cycle last week and this is my second, so for those folks who are still waiting for your first, I hear you and I see you and hang in there! This game is NOT over yet!

are we looking at different spreadsheets? mine says they accepted 300?
Shoot, you're right. I was looking at the line above it. 317 is the amount. Still, if we estimate 50% acceptance rate of current interviewees, 30 acceptances of 317, odds look good for a long road ahead! (i'll edit the previous post)
