This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just wanted to update y'all since I have been watching this page and forgot to post on Friday- I got the call on Friday 01/22 around 3:30! I interviewed 10/27 and didn't send any updates! Good luck y'all - the waiting game sucks but its worth it!
Congrats on your Acceptance!! At least it is good to know it is not dead quiet haha!!

If any MD/PhD applicants hear anything about round two interviews, please post 🙂

just curious - did anyone get into Georgetown without sending a thank you letter? obviously it's thoughtful/important to thank your interviewer but i was wondering if they dock people who don't? they seem to really emphasize thank you letters post interview

I didn’t send any updates, LOI’s, or thank you letters and received an A, so it’s not necessary even though it’s emphasized to send all of those things

do you mind sharing the whole message? I'm not sure what they mean by that either?

Admission Offer

Thank you for submitting an update.
When issuing acceptance offers from the wait list, priority is given to applicants who have submitted at least one letter of interest. The date of the most recent submission is also considered in this process.
The text-box below will allow you to submit 3,000 character, text-only letters of interest for the Committee on Admissions. Please proofread prior to submission, as edits cannot be made once submitted. We only accept letters of interest and wait list updates submitted through this text-box.
The wait list will remain open until the first day of class. You may continue to submit letters of interest until the wait list is officially closed.
Should you wish to withdraw your application at any time, please email a formal request to [email protected].

The way I interpreted that statement, is they look at when they made an admission decision (WL) for you vs when you sent a letter of interest. For example, if you get waitlisted in January, but you don't send a LOI until April, clearly your intent to go to their school isn't *THAT* high, and you were probably waiting to hear from other schools instead. But if you get WL in January, and send a LOI in January or early February, clearly you're a lot more invested or interested in going to their school?
At least that's where my brain went with it? But I don't know if that's correct.

I see what you're saying and that makes sense, but I feel as though it could also be looked at the opposite way. For example, if you get waitlisted in Jan and then send an LOI in April, it is as if you have gone over all your options and are still very interested in GT. Similarly, if you send it near the time that they are reviewing apps to pull off the WL, then they can more safely assume that you are still interested since the LOI was so recent (and therefore they can still protect their yield).

Yeah that is how I understood it as well. I think it makes sense too because ppl tend to hear back from more schools towards the end. So if you still send in a LOI in March/April that should show that despite everywhere else you got in, you still would go to GT

When was the last batch of interviews offered and when were the interviews? I interviewed 12/10/20 and they mentioned us being one of the last groups but not sure.

there were interviews the week of Jan 25th - dunno if they hold interviews weekly or if they skip a week in between?

WL. I know that Georgetown has good WL movement, but how good are we talking? Are there any rough numbers/estimates of how many applicants are waitlisted vs. how many are eventually accepted?
bump. I'm telling myself that being virtual allows more higher stat applicants to attend numerous interviews, but they can only pick one school. Do people think they interviewed more people than previous years? I looked on last years thread, and there were interviews going into February (but number of people at every interview might be less). also in another note how soon are people uploading a LOI after their WL

So I've interviewed at 3 schools, and I know that Georgetown is by far my #1, so I sent a LOI about a week after my WL (mid-Jan).

I was thinking about also sending a second letter in late Feb/March (maybe right before WL movement???) re-affirming Georgetown as my top choice. I feel like I'm happy to be a little desperate if it means even a slight shot of getting off the waitlist.

Post interview rejection. Not really surprised since I didn't feel too good about the interview and that my power went out for like 10 minutes during the interview. Not really upset at all though because I got into some schools that I'd personally rather go to. Awesome school though
Sorry that happened to you during your interview 🙁 ... but glad you were accepted elsewhere. Good luck in med school!!

Also, did any of you who heard back today interview the week of Nov 10?

Can someone please provide their feedback on this? It's an important consideration for those of us holding other acceptances.
I don't really know about the numbers but my guess is there is probably going to be a lot more WL movement this year than previous years . People are attending more interviews since it is virtual and most likely also holding numerous acceptances which they would have to drop by the end of April. So I say there is hope!

I would say it’s important to remember that all of us applying are pretty equally in the dark and don’t really know what’s going on anymore than anyone else does so all anyone can do is speculate. But I think people are right in that applicants were able to take more interviews, leading to more acceptances, eventually leading to more openings

Also important to note that GU typically receives around 15,000 applications and interviews about 1000 applicants. This year they received 18,000+ applications, but also interviewed more of those.
Did they confirm that they were actually interviewing more people? I know a lot of schools received more apps but said that they are interviewing the same amount of ppl as previous years

Yes. They told us specifically at our interview day that they were interviewing more people
