Anyone have any input on how many spots are left for those interviewing early March? Are interviews this late basically for wait-list/alternate spots? I'm assuming they have rolling admissions and most spots have already been offered.
They make a lot of their decisions later in the season. They have sent out some offers, but most people are put on hold after their interview. I think I’ve seen people say about 80%? According to their website, “We operate on a modified rolling admissions basis, wherein spots in the class will remain until we have finished interviewing for the year. If you are offered an interview, you will be interviewing for a potential spot in the class.”

Do people think there are a still a number of IS interviews still to be awarded?

As someone else noted, most of OHSU's decisions are made in April. If you interview in March, you are interviewing for a spot in the class. I interviewed late last March and got in, and I have a number of classmates who did the same.

@PNWMed24 has posted a lot of very helpful info regarding these types of questions, it's worth reading back through if you are new to this thread.

The common theme has been that OHSU is later than most and so long as you are interviewing, you are interviewing for an actual seat.
Most people are on hold till April-ish (80%) with another 10% accepted post-interview and another 10% rejected (anywhere from 4-12wk post-interview after your interviewer attends ADCOM.)

I asked because I am starting to see posts from OOSers getting A's and IIs, so was concerned

Totally, I was wondering the same thing before my II. For what it's worth, it seems OOS applicants that don't meet mission criteria have been getting interviews since very early on in the cycle (I think that there may seem to be a disproportionate amount of OOS applicants getting II compared to IS because of the sheer amount of OOS applicants they need to process compared to IS..and perhaps more diffuse spreading of IS II...?)
Typical Profile ( Admissions | OHSU )
  • Of the 6,700 applications received, approx. 7% are Oregonians, 93% are non-residents
  • Applicants Interviewed: 570
I interviewed in mid-January and it seemed like I was the only one in my group who was an IS applicant... Hang in there!

This is reassuring thanks 🙂

Does anyone know if OHSU replies with a confirmation email after sending them an update essay via email?

So I know that end of April is when many applicants end up hearing back from OHSU. But reading through the traffic guidelines, they have to offer at least ~150 A's by March 15th, right?

"By March 15 of the matriculation year, issue a number of acceptance offers at least equal to the expected number of students in its first-year entering class and report those acceptance actions to AMCAS." Application and Acceptance Protocols - Admission Officers

So if they do the 80/10/10 thing, with 10% being accepted as their first "action" (i.e., never on hold), and about 550 interviewees, that would be about 55 accepted with no hold. So the other ~100 would be from the hold pool AND accepted before March 15?

Or am I thinking about this wrong? Curious as to everyone's thoughts.

edit: nevermind, just realized that these "protocols" are only recommendations and schools can do whatever they want. My bad.

Are you allowed to take notes during the MMI?
they do allow you to take notes. Additionally, each interviewer I had asked me if I had enough time to read the prompt given the technical set up before proceeding. If I recall correctly, they also kept the prompt visible during the discussion portion.

I have it written in my notes from interview day that most (or just a lot?) of acceptances go out in February. I can't find this information anywhere else, so I'm not sure if I misinterpreted something or perhaps jotted down my own wishful thinking?

Did anyone else catch this? Or has anyone hear something similar?

Any OOS folks still not processed yet? Any advice? Maybe it's foolish to think they will even read my app.
I'm in the same boat. This was literally one of my dream schools, and I'm just like pissed I even put money into this app if they won't even review

I haven’t heard of a ton of A’s going out February. Most go out after all interviews are complete (March/April). I could be wrong though!

Not to be a downer, but can we start expecting to see pre-II rejections in our application portals starting now?

I submitted early Sept and just got processed and marked as complete on 1/25 lol. I was considering sending them an email for a while to see if my app got lost in the sauce somewhere.

Hi everyone! OOS from CA but I fit two mission based groups. I did orientation 11/30 and interviewed (individual and MMI) on 12/1, still no word back yet and I have checked the portal every day without fail. Not placed on hold yet/at all.

Secondary submitted 9/3, file was complete on 10/2 for those who are curious.

My friend is an MS1. They are incredibly behind. Also came to tell you i love your username lol
Lol! A fellow the 100 fan 🙂.

Wow though that's a shame, thank you for sharing. Like someone else said, I'm sure COVID and the riots and everything else in 2020 has just caused havoc. Hoping no news is good news for me right now.

Don't forget about the fires lololol. I received my secondary from OHSU back when I was evacuated from my house in Oregon in September🥵

Similar to above response. Submitted early August and was marked complete the day after I emailed them mid December (not sure if they missed my file because I forgot a couple things in September on portal). IS LM ~75 and have had a good cycle from OOS schools but home is where the heart is and i love oregon🤧

Also IS with a lot of work/research/volunteering experience at OHSU. Getting out of state interviews but none at ohsu 😭 It really feels like there is no loyalty lol

Literally same!!! Maybe they gave all the peeps with super strong ties to one person to look over and they haven't gave any of our apps a look yet 🤪

jk but really where's the love

Hi all,

I have become concerned. I am an OOS applicant (MD/MPH) who is a part of at least 2 mission-based groups for OHSU. Although submitted everything by early December, I still haven’t marked complete... ☹️😢

I was under the impression that even OOS applicants who fit a group have their applications processed relatively quickly — I have a friend who is also OOS who fits no mission based group and whose application was marked complete within 2 weeks.

I sent the Office of Admissions an e-mail about a month ago, and no response. I have also left them a voicemail, though I don’t know how regularly they check the voicemail box..

Should I assume that they are definitely not interested in me? I am trying to be hopeful, since I feel like I would be a good fit for OHSU, but I also have generalized anxiety disorder, so that doesn’t help.

~Thank you~

I am IS applicant - applied early 9/2 September , my application was processed on 12/10/2020 almost 3 months . OHSU slow in their process may due to COVID pandemic.
Ah I see. If your application was processed on December 10th, 2020, when were you marked complete?
