2020-2021 Rush

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i have been waitlisted last month and find it really misleading and unfair that the email states that "Rush Medical College waitlist is not ranked", especially after seeing sdn members saying that they were put on a priority waitlist.. I've submitted an update and really hope to hear good news, rush is a school that i really want to go to :/

Not sure what to think about the fact that I didn’t get an R last week but also did not receive the most recent “still reviewing” email
I don't think it means anything, to be honest. I did get one more recently but didn't get one in October (and this had been already a few weeks after I submitted). Based on what someone found from last year's thread, some people who didn't get an update email got IIs and those who didn't also got IIs. I think it's just a polite way of saying that they're not ghosting us/giving us a silent R.

i just don't get why the heck they don't send the update email to everyone. it just makes no sense

I also think it doesnt really mean anything. I have gotten the in consideration email twice: one on October and one just recently. Not sure what to make of that. If they really want me they would have given me an II by now.

yeah I think not getting the R is the best news at this point lol

Huh that's interesting. Did your decision email mention anywhere about a priority waitlist or did it just say waitlist? Mine does not mention that the waitlist is unranked in my email but when I log on to the portal it does mention that under the waitlist tab.

I'm not quite sure how their process works this year, but from what I have read here it sounds like this might be the first year they are implementing a priority waitlist? So perhaps the regular waitlist is unranked but the priority waitlist is ranked? I have no clue tbh. I hope you and I both hear some good new soon friend!

If I sent a pre-II update letter at the end of October, do you think it is wise to send another pre-II update letter or letter of interest now? I still have heard nothing back from them other than the two emails from them and I want to show that I am still interested and would like an interview.

it states Rush will extend approximately 300 offers of admission to fill our 144 first-year positions, including offers to our waitlist applicants. and that the waitlist is "not ranked". it says the same exact thing in the portal as well as the email .. i hope so too friend, really do..!!

thoughts on pre-ii letter of interest?
If you're going to de a pre-II letter of interest, highly recommend doing it as a mix of an update letter and letter of interest. Do it ASAP!

If it's an update on something new you've been doing/have done since the last one you sent in October, sure, go for it! If there's nothing new or substantial, I suggest that you don't. It varies between schools, but it is unclear how much weight an update letter carries in an app and sometimes less is more. You already implied your interest back in October with the update and the lack of app withdrawal does something similar. I'm sure that there are loads of people who would like an interview (me included!), we just gotta hold on a little longer.

Interesting, definitely a bit different than my email. Well I'm not sure when you interviewed, but towards the end of ours in December they mentioned they had only accepted just under 100 applicants thus far. So we still have 200ish acceptances to go which is comforting to hear haha. Good luck to you!

ahhhh! that's amazing to hear, good luck!!

kind of a lame question but does anyone know if Rush is big on thank you emails? I don't think I'll be rejected if I don't send one but stranger things have happened
