Is it appropriate to write a letter of interest if we haven’t gotten an II yet? I’m curious because the portal has an LOI upload option

I got an email from Rush a few weeks ago saying that I could submit an update pre-II as they are still reviewing applications so I would say send it if you have updates.

I think there's a distinction to make between an update letter and an LOI. If you have significant updates, then I would say send it. If there's really nothing, and it's just a letter expressing your continued interest, I think that's more appropriate post-II.
 
Wow I just realized I forgot to hit "Submit" on the connections survey... I completed the secondary around 7/18 -- any idea if this is going to delay my app significantly?

It says the survey isn't mandatory so I doubt it!

did you get that update/review email from them a couple weeks back?

**Please note: your application is not considered complete until we receive each of the following:

  • Secondary Application Fee (paid or waived)
  • Proof of Citizenship
  • Completed Letters of Recommendation Selection Questionnaire
  • All corresponding Letters of Recommendation
This what they said in their email. I also don't remember doing a survey lol. So I hope we are okay
 
Has anyone heard about interviews after the first two rounds that were posted on here?
 
Seconded. Super relaxed and chill night, definitely not stressful -- you can show up in pajamas, leave and enter whenever you want. And honestly, I learned more about Chicago living from the students there than during the actual interview day (and gained some tasty food reccs), so I highly recommend going!

Does anyone know if Rush gives their incoming class any kind of gifts? Like a stethoscope or iPad? Or if anything like that is including in tuition? Just curious
 
Is there an accepted students, or even students in general, Facebook group? I've admittedly never been to Chicago (or even the Midwest), so I might need some remedial tips about apartment hunting

I haven't seen a facebook group but on the applicant portal after you accept the offer, there is a housing guide. It gives descriptions of different areas, as well as, the transit map. I am finding it pretty helpful.

For sure, that has been super helpful! Because of it, I have some idea of where I want to be, but I just wanted to bounce off of other current students, in case I'm making a tragic error 😆.

Not a current med student at Rush, but I lived in Chicago for 4 years, so I'm happy to help in any way possible!

For sure, it's a bit different than the non-COVID19 format on MSAR. There's two interviews -- a normal interview, and a situational interview. Both are open file. The situational is not an MMI (i.e it's not like you have only x amount of minutes to respond to each question), but it is MMI-adjacent. Overall, no curve balls (a la group portions), just know your app, be genuine (avoid over-preparing answers), and enjoy the day.
