2020-2021 Texas Tech, El Paso

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Sorry I am late, but congratulations to all of those that matched! Looking forward to meeting you all and being one of y'alls MS2 mentor next fall.

For those on the waitlist, keep your chin up! Lots of my classmates were waitlist acceptances (including myself) and there is absolutely no shame in it. In case anyone is wondering, I did not send any updates or LOI. Just happened to receive a phone call with a 915 area code.

If you have any questions feel free to tag me here or DM me.

Hi guys! I'm about to give up my spot and was wondering if ya'll knew how to go about withdrawing? I know that I should do it through the portal, but should I also send an email to admissions? For everyone on waitlist, good luck, you got this!!! 🙂

Yes, it is best to also directly email the admissions office or director kindly with your regrets, while clearly stating that you are withdrawing from Texas Tech El Paso.

Okay, thank you so much! I will do that

Hey! If any current students see this, can you message me? I have a question about financials initially moving to El Paso and how tf I'm going to find money LOL

How does the waitlist work at this school. I looked at AAMC information which said that 8-10 people listed on the waitlist and that approximately 8 get off the waitlist which seems like a very high number. Can anyone please clarify?

Texas Tech El Paso waitlist offers will be made gradually, if currently admitted members decide to withdraw after getting a new acceptance (AMCAS or AACOMAS) or after being invited from a TMDSAS wait list.

There has been very little WL activity at any of the TMDSAS schools so far this cycle.

Those of you accepted, the class of 2024 has created two Slack servers for y'all to join. One is for the class of 2025 and the second is a combined server with your class and the class of 2024. I think the link to join may have been posted to y'alls class FB page. Please join!

Received a call and email yesterday! Now, I am just scared I won't be able to meet the entering student requirements and am hesitant to withdraw my acceptance from a different school in fear of not being able to attend either in the end. The background check has a deadline of May 7th? Thanks to anyone and everyone who can make some input on these doubts of mine!

All med schools require a background check, what particularly concerns you about this school? Or did you have a doubt about academic pre-reqs at this late date?

Thanks for the quick response! More of the fact that I am scared to not meet the deadlines. They are dated for the 28th of this month but I just spoke to someone over the phone who mentioned those are dates for students who matched on match day. They mentioned that exemptions are made for students accepted off the alternate list. I mentioned the May 7th date to show how it would be impossible for me to have completed that considering I was accepted May 19th.

You'll be fine - congrats on the acceptance!

Just focus on getting everything done as soon as you can.
