How do we see if we are medically qualified for those not accepted yet and on the waitlist? Did you get an email?
I received an email from DoDMERB and then an additional email from USUHS.
I then put in a request for a medical waiver through the commissioning coordinator.

Have you heard anything back from DODMET's about medical waiver approval?
They have received my request, but I am curious to see how long that process typically takes.
It will be 30 days tomorrow and I still have not heard anything back from them. I have contacted them many times and been able to talk to the lady that is in charge of my case though. It doesn't seem to be as much of an issue with DODMETs as it is hearing back from the doctors. She created a bunch of contract proposals and sent them to docs in my area and just has not heard back from them. Now granted, they may not offer enough for some docs to think it is worth the hassle. I've also still been unable to get an appointment at Travis AFB which has the specialist I need. The MTF thing is more frustrating in that I have the regulation that states MTFs must provide support for DODMERB referrals in regards to commissioning programs but they are stil refusing to do it just because they don't know what it is or don't know how to go about it.

I requested a waiver on March 21st and the commissioning coordinator is still working on it. I emailed them today for an update and they said, "The waiver process takes about 4-6 weeks for processing, sometimes longer if additional information is required. Once a decision is made, I will contact you.".

I believe I asked someone on SDN and they said that their request took a little over 3 weeks.

Got waitlisted this morning, is there expected to be movement after commit to enroll on April 30th?

Historically, the waitlist sees significant movement starting April 30th (probably the week of May 3rd for this cycle)

I know it's late since it's in a few hours, but what is the dress code for the second look for admitted students.

sweet, well fingers crossed for all of us!
Agreed! I am definitely praying for a huge wave of waitlist movement for all of us as soon as the admissions committee finishes stratifying the waitlist and/or April 30th rolls around. Out of curiosity when did you interview?

If I attend the army DCC in July-August, it seems like I would miss both orientations during the first half of August. Do students make this up somehow, or is it something that I shouldn’t worry about?

Some people did this in my class. It’s not a big deal.

Is the waiting list locked in place according to applicant competitiveness or is there some fluidity? I’m wondering if a letter of intent could help me move further up on the list at this point.

I received an email from USU about my medical waiver request:

"Your request for a waiver of the medical standards in Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 6130.03 has been granted. This approval means you are deemed to have a current level of functioning or state of health which warrants an exception to policy in spite of the presence of disqualifying medical conditions..."

Does this mean I'm medically qualified and nothing more is required?

Yes! I received my unconditional acceptance letter a few days after receiving the same notification. If you want, just reply and CC your admissions counselor asking if any follow-up is requested, but I don't think it's necessary.

It's interesting that this year the "big day" falls on a Friday. Leaves room for a wild next week for waitlist movement!

Cleared out my voicemail, you know, just in case...

I’m hoping for some AF movement next week. Looks like the army and navy waitlists have gotten all the love the last month

Hello friends! I am in waitlist limbo and have a question about HPSP/USUHS timelines. Does anyone know if you can accept an offer from USUHS after accepting an HPSP offer? I only ask because I am accepted to a civilian school that has programs that begin this summer and I know that sometimes waitlist movement happens as late as July/August. Thanks in advance!

CAPT Liotta mentioned during one of the seminars that you'll know for sure come early June (1st week-ish) whether you've been accepted. I think if you haven't heard anything back at that point definitely contact him (I did so last year and he was able to definitively tell me it wasn't going to happen). I'm in the same boat as you, good luck! Hopefully, we'll see each other at USUHS this fall!

Okay! That’s helpful, thank you :)
Fingers crossed for both of us this year!

How did y'all make an informed decision as to which branch to prioritize in application? Where do you recommend starting? Thanks for your time.

I withdrew today after being unconditionally accepted a month ago (Army). Especially after seeing so many genuinely awesome people in the facebook group, it was a really tough decision to make.

I wish everyone still in the running-- only the best of luck.

Has anyone had a medical waiver request that required AMI to be processed and approved yet this cycle?
I submitted by AMI last week and have received no follow-up even confirming that this had been received. I am at a loss of who to contact and was hoping this would be completed prior to the 30th for some potential wait list movement.

The AMI request letter from DoDMERB has a technician at the bottom. I contacted mine via email a couple of times and he was responsive.

My technician was also very responsive. If you haven't heard back, I would go ahead and contact [email protected]. Give him your full name and the last four of your SSN (some have told me to put it in the email body). Be professional and ask what can be done to resolve the situation. And let him know that you're a USUHS applicant.

Best of luck wherever you're headed!!! If you're doing HPSP maybe we'll bump into each other somewhere down the line

For those who may be accepted June to as late as August, when would commissioning occur?

Some of the current and former USUHS students have stated that if you do not have enough time to go to commissioning school before USUHS that you will just commission when you report to school. You will then still be required to attend commissioning school between either year 2 & 3 or between year 3 & 4. I can't remember exactly when.

Congrats!! What branch? And what time did you get the call? I just sent in a LOI and am praying for good news soon.

Army, got the call sometime in the afternoon (don't exactly know the time because I was in a cell service-free zone when I stepped out of the area I saw a call from Bethesda!). Things should be moving along soon since it's close to April 30th!

I will keep a lookout for an O-3 triathlete for sure. :)

I definitely prayed that my seat would go to you but I couldn't say it here then-- out of respect for those still hoping for that spot. You'll be a great officer and a doctor-- CONGRATULATIONS!!!

1. So this is a question to really everybody here - do you need to commit to enroll on April 30 if you have one acceptance on AMCAS? Or can you just plan to enroll? And if you choose plan to enroll, can other schools that you are on the waitlist for see that?

2. Also to those that were accepted recently, where do you sign up for the officer training course?

3. To those accepted and not accepted yet, when is the deadline to commit to USUHS?

Answer to Question 1: The Commit To Enroll tool is available on April 30th, whether or not you are required to use this status to choose one acceptance on this date varies by the school you are accepted to (to my understanding). The only school I was accepted to requires that you either plan to enroll or commit to enroll on April 30th, as well as pay a fee. From AMCAS, "Starting April 30, the AMCAS tool will identify the applicants making either selection. This applicant-specific information will be visible only to schools where the applicant has a current acceptance or alternate-list position." (link: AMCAS® Choose Your Medical School Tool ). As I understand that it means if you Plan to Enroll, the schools where you are waitlisted or hold another status will be able to see your status at that school. In June, my school will require us to update to Commit to Enroll, meaning I can't hold alternate statuses elsewhere. So hoping I get accepted into USUHS before then. I can't answer questions 2 or 3.

I'm going to submit a letter of intent, but I'm not sure who to address it to (i.e. the dean/director...). Does anyone have any information on who I should address this to?

I addressed mine to Mrs. Stearman since she signed my waitlist letter.

Was hoping today would be the big day 🥺 keep those fingers and toes crossed waitlisters!
