Committee--> Sub-Committee--> and "File Review is Complete" since yesterday
 
Finally on subcommitee after 2 months lmao come on VCU I just want some love 🙁

It seems like there's been a few "you file review is now complete" folks recently. Ik some people mentioned this was the last stage before II. Can you also get rejected after this stage? Also what the heck are these committess and sub-committees statuses, it's starting to sound like the house of representatives in here. Can anyone draw like a flow chart or like an ochem mechanism explaining how applicants progress through their review process bc I'm confused

Application Screening —-> Sub-Committee Review —-> File Review —-> pool of applicants that may receive interview invite —-> Interview Invite —-> Selection Committee —-> hold for potential offer —-> Admissions Offer
 
Still stuck on "A member of the committee will do a review of your application. This review is done to determine your qualifications for a potential interview invitation. Once this review is complete, you will receive a status update regarding your profile. PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE ADMISSIONS OFFICE."

I think I was complete somewhere around 8/25. Does that mean I'm just not going to get reviewed?

It took me a month and a half before my status changed from this to an II, so don't worry. Your complete date is around the time of the cycle when apps start backing up because of the sheer number, so be patient with them as they work through everyone's apps.

Been at this status since 8/13, no change :/ I'm hoping for a status update mid to late October
 
Just got to the status: "Your File Review is now complete. If you are granted an interview, you will receive a status update on your applicant portal. Please do not call the Admissions Office requesting special dates."

Was complete 09 AUG, and noticed it went to the sub committee last week sometime.

completed 7/29 and been at subcommittee for a little over two weeks. hopefully changes to file review soon
 
Finally moved into sub-committee today and I was complete sometime in very early August (forgive me I dont have my neurotic excel spreadsheet up at the moment)

Edit: august not September see this is why i need my excel sheet

What is the earliest interview date here? I'm interviewing 11/4 but just got an email from VCU asking if I'd like to interview early. Very confused and unsure of what to do because I haven't practiced for MMIs and the dates they gave me are next week.

Has this happened to anyone?

I was scheduled to interview the same day as you and got the same update this morning. Not sure what it means, but if it’s before October 16 that means you are eligible to hear back by then! Congrats!

OOS, just got moved to sub-committee within the past day or so, no email notification. complete 9/16.

Ya I figured the sooner the better! I like the prospect of possibly hearing back sooner. But that being said, I don't think keeping the original date will negatively affect your application in any way, nor does interviewing on the earlier date garauntee hearing back sooner. So it really just depends on your preference!

If not offered a II you may be on that status for the rest of the year until rejected! So fret not 🙂 you will either get II or not

Hello Talldoctor. I see u were very transparent and active with the previous cycles about the interview. I have browsed the VCU website, and I really like the year off research program they offer. I couldn''t find anything about the curriculum? What's the structure of the curriculum like at VCU and what do you like about the school? thxs

What do you mean by if its October 16th you are eligible to hear back by then? Curious if they gave a time frame that you are referring to.
 
Overall stats were low, and despite stellar EC’s, I was expecting the R none-the-less. Medical schools not liking alumni also seems to be a trend.

I think my last status was ‘MD file is complete... currently being reviewed by committee.”

Vcu has 4 dates they release acceptances. The first one is October 16. If you interview before they date, you will hear on October 16

Yes, If you are interviewed before that offer date of October 16, you will be eligible to receive an offer that day.

Thanks! I would be very impressed if a 10/14 interview was contacted 2 days later but would be a pleasant surprise

They told us in my interview that the admissions committee usually meets on Monday to discuss the applicants who interviewed the previous week, so I'm guessing they would discuss you on 10/19 and if that's the case you probably wouldn't hear back until December 16th!

Did they send an email about a status update or did you have to check the portal?

This is a great point however that is not how it works. Having interviewed here two times in two different cycles I assure you that everyone prior to the release date will be included as this is what they say every single year! 🙂 feel free to continue to disagree but I promise you I am not just making assumptions like you are 🙂
