2021-2022 Creighton

I don't know if I heard him correctly but I think I heard him say "the vast majority of you will be placed on the alternate list". Did I hear this correctly lol
Yes, this is correct. I was also told this during an earlier interview at Creighton.

One of the deans at a school I interviewed at explained that most schools are somewhat conservative with offering acceptances early in the cycle because they need to protect their yield and ensure as many of those acceptances as possible turn into matriculated students next year.

Edit: heard this from a Dean at a different school, but he said it applied to many schools.

I interviewed in August and Dr. Cavalleri did say that Creighton places most of its interviewees on the alternate list first with only a few acceptances and rejections given as a first post-II decision
dang thats kinda dissapointing. Why invite so many people to interview in the first place, it kinda doesn't make sense to me

hmmmm i don't recall hearing this at my info session but it makes sense! it'd be nice to get outright accepted though lol

Okay guys, story time if anyone is interested.

A few days ago I woke up and was getting ready to go to the gym. I got a call from a random number and as usual did not pick up. However, I did check the area code because I was expecting a post-interview decision from another school. Nebraska area code so I just moved on, not thinking about it. Then I get a voicemail. It's an admissions lady at Creighton! But she is saying that they have sent me TWO email invitations for an interview over the last 2 weeks and I haven't responded, they want to know if I'm still interested or if I am withdrawing my application. I freaked out, obviously, and called her back. While on the phone I checked my email, spam and trash. Nothing. I had an email from them confirming my completed application on 10/22, but never got their first interview invitation on 10/25, nor their second repeat invitation on 11/7. I logged onto the portal for the first time since I submitted and there she was, an interview invitation. Needless to say, the lady was quite confused. I'm still not sure how this happened, especially because I got their complete email 3 days earlier, but it was frustrating that it cost me 2 weeks and I could've scheduled my interview sooner. Oh well. Let this be a lesson to everyone to check your portals weekly and not just rely on receiving emails like I have been doing!! Thanks for reading my rant.

For those who interviewed, did you send thank you emails to your interviewers or the admissions office? I didn't get the faculty's email, so I wasn't sure... I found it online, but I don't want to send him an email out of the blue since he didn't give me that permission in the first place. Any advice?

Didn't send a thank you note but I believe they welcome them to the admissions committee in general.

Did you get an email notification that the portal was updated? Or did you just got on and see the acceptance? Seems strange since it was on a Saturday…
No notification, I just checked the portal. I knew that they emailed on Mondays but I had seen in a previous comment that sometimes the decision is available in the portal after the committee meets on Fridays

I sent mine to the email address that was scheduling the interviews. I put the name of the recipient in the document title and they were able to send them to my interviewers for me

That's smart lol I ended up sending one to each interviewer! I thought since the faculty's email is on the public school site, it's for public use 😆

Which campus? I am currently at Omaha, but I can't decide whether to switch to Phoenix. What do you see as the pros/cons to both campuses?
Omaha! Honestly Phoenix is very far away from home for which is why I didn’t apply. I don’t know much about Phoenix tbh, I would def get in touch with a current student!! ALSO for anyone reading this, creighton has a student-run Instagram and it shows you a “day in the life” of med students and they answer tons of questions, it’s @cusomadmissions

For uploading updates, would it be okay to add an intro on why Creighton is a good fit for me (just a brief but a more concise statement compared to the secondary) and then talk about the new extracurricular activity that I started? it's like a letter of update/interest type of thing

That is what I did.

Anyone know the days available to visit the campuses after we get accepted? I know they said they had dates but I cannot find any.
They just completed their first admitted students day last week Friday and they're going to have a second admitted students day in February. The second look day is in April I believe. No dates for February or April yet.

Hey did anyone from the interview week of 10/29 still not receive their decision yet?

Hello everyone! I know this has been brought up before, but does anyone believe there is a major drawback to being at the Phoenix campus? I selected it because I know I would be much happier in that area (I've spent a lot of time in the southwest and I'm in love with the region), but I am also worried about limiting my options in the match, or being in a program where they are still working out the kinks. Thanks so much for any help!

Anyone know what the alt list movement is like here? Don’t know if I should still have any hope left or not lol

Does anybody know if you can apply to the Arrupe Scholars Program after interviewing but before receiving a decision on your application?

Does anyone know when the next round of acceptances goes out?

“Thank you for interviewing” disappeared from my portal at like 5pm mst yesterday. Interviewed the week of the 15th.

It does make sense in terms of not knowing who is going to be accepted and then actually matriculate. Creighton has a very strong yield at 2:1, so if they have 260 seats open between the two campuses they must Interview about I think last year 609, offer 260 acceptances initially and as those acceptances drop off for schools that the accepted applicants think may be a better fit candidates are picked up off the alternate/wait list. Generally, Creighton and similar will offer about 520 acceptances to fill their 260 seats generating a 2:1 yield which is pretty good. Check out last year's thread you will see applicants getting picked up off the alternative list a week before orientation.

Given that this thread is basically dead silent on a known decision release day, is it safe to assume that almost everyone got alt-listed like me?

But on another note, I received a new II to one of the other Jesuit schools immediately after receiving my alt-list notification. So Creighton, please be aware that you're asking for a turf war 🤣

So I wrote an update letter that contains new clinical work, a research update, a new nonclinical volunteering position, and a small ending paragraph re-expressing my interest in particular parts of their program...but Creighton has a spot for you to upload updates by categories (ECs, Clinical, volunteering, research, LOI...etc.). How do I do this? Do I re-write a letter for each specific update?

During my interview info session they said that they want you to separate it and be specific as possible (ex: even if it's an activity that you've already included on AMCAS w/ projected hours, they said even an update on how many of the projected hours you've done so far would be welcome). I actually sent in an update on my clinical volunteering and research and in each update, prefaced it by writing 1-2 sentences on how my updates related to the school

A received Monday, 11/13-ish(?) info session.

The email link didn't work for me, but I logged in through my phone's mail app using [Nest ID]@creighton.edu and my password to log in.
Thanks. turns out that all I had to do was log in with the [email protected] and it worked
