2021-2022 Temple

It was terrible. My community interview literally began by asking me "why would we take you over the other two people in this room". Turns out that wasn't even the question she was assigned to ask. Plus, they ask multiple of you the same questions and are supposed to randomize who they ask first each time, but for some of my friends the interviewer didn't, and whoever was asked first was at an unfair disadvantage as the other two had a chance to plan their response more carefully.
Whoa; Thanks for letting me know this. Yikes.

Congrats on your interview invite!

The group interview with the North Philadelphia community member was very traditional/conversational. I feel like they tried to gauge our awareness of the community’s current needs, the importance of cultural competency and what it means to you, and our desire to serve in the Philly community (not sure if everyone’s experience was like this). The group I interviewed with also had some time to ask questions about the Philly community and their perspective of Temple LKSOM. Overall really laid back and low stress (like the rest of the interview day) Best of luck to you!
Thanks for your insight! Appreciate it

I had an amazing interview experience at Temple! I loved everything about it. All my interviewers were very kind and welcoming and I felt like I could really just talk to them and highlight my strengths. Not sure what happened with the other applicant - that sounds horrible! But yeah it was not my experience at all.

Yea, the community interview is very variable because it's less standardized as they're picking people with very different backgrounds from the community surrounding Temple. Many of my friends had completely fine committee interviews. Some had noticeably worse ones. My community interviewer gave 0 acknowledgement of any of our answers lol. She just said "ok, next" and then later confused what questions she had asked who so we had to repeat our answers while she insisted she hadn't asked us certain questions that all 3 of us knew she had.

I got accepted to a few other places I prefer to Temple, so I wasn't too worried about post-II results. My faculty interviews were absolutely amazing, so I was hoping that would overrule the likely terrible community interview recommendation, but turned out not to be the case as I was waitlisted. I was hoping to get in just so it would add some credence when I emailed the admissions committee about the experience, rather than just sounding like a bitter excuse.

Does anyone know what level of merit scholarships Temple offers? As far as I am aware, there are no full rides or close to it.

+1 terrible community interview experience. I loved my faculty interviews but the community one was a bit of a mess. The interviewer just asked us questions off of a list and didn't really acknowledge our responses. We had no chance to really interact with her and ask questions or even talk about the actual community at all & we all kind of jumped at the chance to answer questions first. It was the most disappointing part of the day, but overall I did enjoy the interview day and Temple is in my top 2 of the schools I've interviewed at. Currently on the WL and wondering how much of that decision was based on my community interview.

II this morning for St. Luke's campus! Very grateful. Complete end of July. Dates available were either Dec 7th or 14th.

Is there anything different between the interviews for St. Luke's campus and the main campus? Going through the past threads now so people don't have to repeat info but any insight would be phenomenal!

everyone I know with a terrible community interview experience was waitlisted. Of course, many without a bad experience were also waitlisted, but from that I would guess it has some weight.

Completed date? Congrats again!

Thanks! July 23 to be exact. Any additional opinions on the interview and the difference in campuses would be awesome! Also, if we want to change campuses, is that possible? Or are you locked in to the campus you selected? Very grateful either way.

welp it's officially December 1st and I have 0 interview invites, reapplication is imminent 🙁
Don't lose hope!! Current reapp here. Had friends last year in the same situation that ended up with that 1-2 As they needed. I'd wait until mid Jan before letting those feelings surface. It's a super long process, and we're all here with you!

Maybe. Maybe not. In any event, there will be no reapplication until at least next May.

The whole point is to begin thinking about ways to be a better applicant for another cycle, if you were not already doing so. Have you been doing things since you submitted your primaries to make yourself a stronger applicant? If not, now is the time to start doing so while waiting to see what happens in the next few months.

Bruh people in September getting interview invites while people in June/July sitting on 0 II’s. What was even the point of applying early
It's pretty likely (almost certain) that if they applied in September they would have 0 IIs still lol.
Applying early increases your chances, it doesn't perform miracles.

Woke up to an II at Main Campus today!!! There is still hope you guys!!! Secondary submitted 9/21, LizzyM 69.5, current Temple undergrad, sent an update in early October (no response).

Does anyone who interviewed know if the format with the faculties will be conversational or MMI interview? TIA!
My faculty interviews were very conversational and laid back. I think one of them is open file and the other is closed. My open file interviewer probably asked me like 3 questions total but we had good conversations about each question. My community interview was also pretty conversational but less than the faculty ones because it’s a group interview. I was honestly super impressed with Temple overall.

That’s very good to know! Thanks for the feedback :’)

My community interview was someone asking questions in a robotic tone and writing down everything I said. That's it. Didn't try to test my fit for their community nor tried to sell their community. Seemed like the person was paid to be there but didn't want to be.

Oh my god, that's actually the best way to phrase it. Sounds like like my interviewer. Did anyone else have a community interviewer that was a Black woman whose name started with a P? How was your experience with her?

What sucks is that most years (such as last) there was no community interviewer. They add it once every few years, and it's unfortunate this was one of years... for me anyway.

Not sure how the main campus is, but I loved my St Luke's interview. First the campus IT guy gave us a really nice pep talk and gave us his personal cell number in case we had any issues throughout the day!!! He was SO welcoming. There was also the writing assignment which was easy so don't worry about it. I had an interview with one of the deans and then a community interview with a Temple physician. Reading these posts now I'm realizing I'm lucky that I had a great community interviewer! Overall I enjoyed the day so much and felt like they actually wanted me. I guess my advice would be if you feel like you'd be a great fit emphasize that!!! I went into full detail hahahahaha

Does anyone know if Temple does internal rankings of any sort?

Interviewing at Temple this week; had a question for those who interviewed here. How did you find your interviewer's email addresses? Did the admissions committee give them to you during the meet and greet prior to interviewers or did you ask for them directly from your interviewers?

For me 2 out of 3 interviewers provided me their emails voluntarily. My community interviewer didn’t provide their email. I’m not sure if the committee typically provides interviewer emails prior, but for my interview day they did not. Hope this helps, best of luck on your interview this week!

I didn't receive the email addresses of any of my interviewers. When I wrote my thank you letters, I separated them in PDF format for each interviewer and emailed them all to Temple's Admissions (with a separate thank you note to admissions), and asked them to distribute them. They responded soon after and let me know that they distributed them.

Which tab are do you see the interview invite? They don't send it through email correct?
They email you and it's scheduled through the TU portal (separate from secondary portal).

On a Saturday? Wow
I feel like quite a few places have been sending them on Saturdays, probably to wrap up the pre-holiday rush. Or maybe because there are no "business days" in the business of medicine

If you get accepted to the St. Luke's campus, are you bound there or can you decide to switch to the main campus (and vise versa)?

My understanding is that your acceptance is conditional to the campus you stated your preference. So if you are offered an interview for St. Luke’s campus, and subsequently earn an acceptance, it is only for St. Luke’s campus. There is an option to take electives as an M4 at the main campus, but I have no more info on that.
