If I were to write a letter of intent, should I send it to their email or upload it to the portal? Also, does anyone know who the Dean/Director of Admissions is so I can address the letter directly?

How many acceptance offers on average does WSUSOM send out by the end of each cycle?

I'm not saying this to discourage you from sending one, but I have heard that they do not consider letters of intent. People have emailed WSUSOM admissions, and their responses have been along the lines of "well if you have something new to add to your application that you would like us to consider, send it our way." If you want to send an update letter, I say go for it, but it doesn't seem like a letter of intent will have much sway from their responses. It can't hurt though!

Thank you so much for your reply! It's very good to know. TBH I might do a combo intent/update!

I’m planning on sending one as well and would make sure to note the following.

1.) Wayne accepts LOI uploaded to the portal but make sure it’s written decently at the bare minimum. A good one isn’t likely to move the meter but a bad one would likely hurt you.
2.) If you have an acceptance to a highly prestigious institution (think T15), certainly name it. If you have an acceptance to a less prestigious (allopathic) program, still mention that but don’t name it. If you don’t have any acceptances….a LOI doesn’t have much weight

Would have to disagree. Shoot your shot and see what happens. Better than never knowing.

what would be a bad LOI??

" Yo, it's me again. Hope you haven't forgotten about me. Most people do, haha. Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know that I'm still interested in attending VCU. It'd be suuuuuper chill if you guys could do me a huge solid and admit me. I promise I can make it worth your while 😉. Stay frosty! -RZRZ "

Maybe something like that.

Hey guys, I had my interview on Friday and was hoping to send a thank you letter. Do you think I should send one to just the faculty and student interviewers or to the MMI interviewers as well?

Would have to disagree. Shoot your shot and see what happens. Better than never knowing.
Not trying to argue, but curious about your take on it? Impression I get is that LOI is based on expressing ones preference if offered a position. If you don’t have an acceptance, it’s moreso a letter of continued interest or update letter. Of course one will intend to matriculate if it’s you’re only acceptance.

To be honest with you, I don't think thank you letters have much impact. I think it's appropriate to send a letter addressing the interviewers by name, why you you are thankful, and what draws you to the school. Unless this is your top choice, writing a letter to 7 different people is a bit overkill in my opinion.

Also got the R with the email saying all interviews have been sent. Good luck to those still in the running!

what does this mean?

Applicants who have matriculated into any U.S. allopathic or osteopathic school of medicine during the present application year will be withdrawn from any further consideration for admission by Wayne State University School of Medicine.

I imagine this is referring to the CTE?

Matriculation implies youre a student i thought. So i read this as, anyone currently in an MD/DO program will not be considered for admission.

So if you are accepted into a school that starts in June or something, you will no longer be considered for admission once that school starts.
If im not mistaken, doesnt MSUCOM and some other schools start early? Perhaps this is why.
Maybe Wayne starts very late, and they are automatically withdrawing candidates who are on their WL, and have started somewhere else.

Wayne state starts July 5th. But you are correct MSUCOM does start in June
