Can someone tell me if cameras are going to be on for the student and dean panel. I am assuming so, but, what is the dress code like? I don't want to show out in my suit and then wear that same suit again. What did people wear?
Oops I misunderstood this Q and got it mixed up w another school’s interview day 😂 but student panel was more casual for sure. Also nothing wrong with dressing up a little and wearing the same thing

Yeah, for sure. Maybe Ill change the shirt and tie combo then. Thanks!

Did everybody who got accepted post interview do the optional update before scheduling?

I will say, that dean and student panel really sold it for me as a school. Everyone was so nice and receptive to student wellness over everything else

Is anyone else having a lot of trouble with the Photo upload? I'm not able to crop the photo like they say I should be able to. Then when I try to submit, I get an error message

You must use firefox

Are u doing the optional essay

You might need to download Firefox. It didn’t work for me with edge (I think that was the other one they suggested)
Okay, I guess I'll download Firefox. It's not working for me on edge or chrome

Yes. I do think I have some worthwhile updates to let them know. It's optional, so if you're kinda doing the same things you were when you applied then there's probably no need

That's good to hear. Kinda nervous for my upcoming interview. How did you prepare for the MMI?
It was super fun. Everyone was really nice. Not much to prepare for really. You could read up on some ethical issues but without saying too much also know yourself. It was super chill. I recommend the student panel and dean meet up as well.

The interview wasn’t too bad! It was like a less stressful Casper, and I think it went well. But I’m a 1st-quartile sociopath, so what do I know 😅
I felt I did okay in some stations and great in others. Just going to hope for an AL or A!

Okay. Thanks.

Looking through last year's thread again, there were interview invites given out in small batches end of December and many times through January and February

I didn't do a ton, tbh. I watched some videos about the basics of the MMI, read the MMI posts on the wiki on the r/premed subreddit, reviewed my AMCAS application, and perused their website to refresh myself on what all the school has to offer just in case. It says on the portal that no preparation is required for the interview, and I think that's true.

It's definitely nothing to worry about too much! As long as you're a normal person and can demonstrate that you can think critically about complex issues and articulate yourself well, you'll be fine. I felt I did mostly well in most of them, but one was really short and kinda awkward, so we'll see

lol casper is a bunch of bologna. I took it last year and got a first quartile score and then took it again this year after "studying" and got a third quartile score. you probably did well on your MMIs, the style of the casper just picks up on typing skills.

Does anyone know the post interview acceptance rate here?

First wave of alternate lists here and no updates. From previous thread it looks like the post interview acceptance rate is around 40-50% including direct A’s and AL-> A’s. It also looks a fair number of people withdraw their WL and A’s in the spring, especially around plan and commit to enroll dates. There are a few people that get off the list quickly in a week or two but most people wait months. Cycle track has a little bit of data that can help visualize the process too.

I recommend everybody visit albany and albany med if they are considering this school. I visited and was disappointed by the old facilities and the lack of culture in the surrounding areas.
Not much to do in Albany?

I guess if you have some options think it out. The climate seems great as far as the student/faculty relationship. It’s close to the outdoors and nyc is a train ride away so is Boston and skiing in Vermont

Good points, but two of your pros involve leaving Albany haha. But for real the student/faculty relationship seemed great and its a level 1 trauma center. For me, I am not into outdoor activities as well so that's another reason I dislike Albany.

AL just now :/ really liked the school too and thought my interview was great. Apparently not as good as Happy Squidward's lol
AL just now as well. Though not as good as an acceptance, it's not a bad thing either. Albany said 90% of the matriculated class was part of the AL.
I interviewed 11/07.

Also AL. Interviewed 11/14.

Chin up AL people, it’s not a bad result for this school. Just gotta be patient now.

Just received an A!! It's my first one after not getting in anywhere last cycle so I'm pretty in shock right now!
CONGRATS! May I ask what you did to improve your application from your previous application cycle?

Not much to do in Albany?
I lived in albany for a few years and graduated from high school there. It is actually a very beautiful place and while there isn't much to do in terms of going to restaurants or clubbing (something we probably won't have enough time for anyways lol) it is a wonderful place to go for hikes and enjoy nature. People are also generally nice as well and if you don't like albany itself a ton, consider the fact that NYC is a 2 hour drive and Boston is 3. Once again, if you are expecting a city than you will be unhappy, but if you give it a chance you will love it. My time in Albany marks some of the best years of my life. Also, a great place to raise a dog lol, my family got our first dog there and it's a super dog friendly area.

CONGRATS! May I ask what you did to improve your application from your previous application cycle?
Absolutely! I did a year of clinical research while going through the first app cycle and got a few publications so all of that got to be on my app this time. And then I went to get my master's (talked a lot about that in my new personal statement). I also updated my letters of rec to include two physicians I met during the gap years because I initially only had professors/undergrad research advisor.

Has anyone been removed from the waitlist lately? Anyone have any idea how long we can hear back if we are removed from the AL or not?
