2022-2023 Illinois

Anyone have insight on how/when/how long after a decision that campus assignments are made?
Looks like last year around this time some people knew their campus placement and some people didn't... I wonder if it depends on how much you made a case for a certain campus in your secondary and interview - unsure. I interviewed in Sept, got accepted in Nov, and my campus placement is still TBD. I also did say in my interview I'd prefer Chicago (I live right by the campus, volunteer there, my support network is here, I want to be in an academic/medical hub), but I'd go to any campus since UIC is such a top contender for me. Hopefully that doesn't bite me haha

I was accepted in October and got my campus placement in December, but I think its different for everyone!
Just curious - were you pretty explicit with which campus you wanted to go to and/or have professionally compelling reasoning? And which campus is it if you don't mind sharing?

Hi, no problem! In my application, I was fairly explicit about wanting Chicago but in my interview, I was open to all 3 campuses because I truly would be open to any if I was lucky enough to be accepted into the system. My application was entirely based around Chicago though as I grew up here, live/work/volunteer here now, and my entire support system is here. All of my career goals also revolve around working with Chicago populations so my placement definitely matches the content of my application. Hope this helps!

do you guys mind sharing what the email said?
It basically just said that there was an email sent out to a bunch of people at like 2am, and it was a mistake and their IT team is fixing it. Supposedly it was about the status of several applications, but I didn't get the overnight email

oh interesting, i didn't get either of the emails

wait what now i'm scared bc i didn't get the error message email either lol does this mean my application is not being considered anymore?

Guys I think they just sent it to everyone who hasn't interviewed yet. From the email, it seems like what happened is they accidentally sent a duplicate "Application Complete" email and are just letting people know it was a mistake so they don't start panicking about stuff like this

especially if their application has been complete and they've been waiting for news for a while now (also includes me).

this error message may have gone to literally everyone - I just interviewed here and received the apology/error message (although I never received the original 2am accidental email they are referring to)

congrats again! did they tell you which location you're interviewing for ahead of time?
The interview is to determine if you would be a good fit for UICOM as a whole. If they accept you, they're basically saying you're UICOM material, satellite campuses and all. Campus ranking comes only after you're accepted, and it seems the majority of the people get their first or second choice.

To add to what freshdoe correctly stated, I don't know anyone that was put on their third choice campus. That likely depends heavily on the overall make-up of your class though, so don't use my experience as the rule.

really do not want to be annoying on this thread...just wondering when I should give up hope for an IS II

Do you have to commit to UICOM in order to receive the campus assignment?

Commitment for AMCAS schools comes end of April early May. There is no deposit for UICOM. To get a campus assignment you need to be accepted, have accepted their acceptance, and ranked your campuses on the application portal. No email will be sent once you’re assigned, you’ll just have to check the portal regularly.
