For those who have interviewed already, are we allowed to write notes while reading the MMI prompt?

For those who have interviewed in-person, is it okay if I bring a small backpack to hold my wallet, paper, pencil, etc.?

Exact same thing happened with me. I take it as they're interested, but need to see how many available seats they'll have around Dec. If they didn't want us, I think they would have just outright rejected us. Who knows...

Wait so if we are still under review for a secondary we could possibly get a late II for the early spring ?

I apologize if this has been asked before, I went through the thread and didn’t see too much feedback to this.

How was the virtual MMI experience? Are the SDN interview questions for UIWSOM enough to prep? Overall thoughts on the virtual interview experience?

If anyone is willing to share how the prepped or PM me that would be super helpful. Thank you.

It’s pretty straightforward! You will have 6 stations where you will answer a prompt. This prompt could be about an ethical dilemma, situation, mission statement, etc. In my opinion, the best way to prepare is to practice ethical and situation questions, since those seem to be the hardest for people to come up with answers to in the allotted 2 minutes. Otherwise, just be yourself and show them why they picked you for an interview! Be confident and friendly! Good luck!

Hi, did they also ask you traditional interview questions? like tell me about yourself, why become a physician etc.
Or just MMI scenario-based questions.

Just submitted my secondary. Y’all know if it’s too late?

I understand that UIWSOM is pass/fail, but do they have internal rankings? I don't think they do (I think they are one of only a few true pass/fail DO programs). Most of the schools that say they are pass/fail have internal rankings so that seems to defeat the purpose. Can any students comment on if they like it, or if they would prefer rankings or grades?

OMS 2 here. No grades. As far as I am aware, no internal rankings either. It's hard to say if I would prefer to have rankings/grades because the aftermath of the STEP 1 P/F change on residency apps has yet to be seen. We will know soon enough!

Edit: forgot to add that just because you don't get a grade doesn't mean you don't get feedback on exams. After the exam, you get to see faculty-suggested answers to the essay questions and you see whether they gave your answer full credit or less than full credit (that's it - you don't know how many "points" the question was worth nor whether you scored a 99% or a 0%). On the multiple choice section (one per exam), you see which questions you got right and wrong. On clinical skills/OMM/OSCE exams, you get some amount of written feedback and you see how many points you were given in each scoring category. On anatomy lab exams, you see which you got right and wrong as well. What you NEVER see is how many "points" were needed to pass an exam, how you performed relative to other students, or how many points the exam was scored out of. In other words, you do not know what the standard was for passing - only whether you passed, did not pass, or passed "with requirements." The latter means you passed, but you cut it close and need to make an appt with academic counseling to discuss how to fine-tune your study strategies.

This was probably asked earlier, but how big will the class size be?

Its Been A Long Time Waiting GIF

over 12 weeks complete 🥺

Curriculum mostly. Doesn’t fit my goals and was really off put by the presentation and campus.
Fair enough! The curriculum is very unique and I'm sure not everyone learns that way or likes the structure of it so I get it. You have any tips for interview day? I fly out in a few weeks!

MMI questions weren’t too difficult so i’d just do practice with a friend or something. Tbh i didn’t prep at all and didn’t do great in my interview but I have found that MMI doesn’t suit my strengths as an interviewee so i’m afraid I’m not the best help.
Sounds like a solid plan. But no worries, thank you! Best of luck future doc!

Just received an II from this school after completing in September. I already have some A's at other schools out of state. I like the others more school-wise, but love the idea of staying in texas. Should I bother with the interview or just hold on to the A's I already have?

Depends on your priorities. If you see yourself potentially staying in TX and could realistically see yourself attending UIW, then take the interview and see if you could sacrifice what the other schools offer to stay in TX. Hope this helps 🙂

also just received an II!
