Super dumb question, but are you allowed to have pencil and paper with you during the MMI?

You are allowed to, but they said you shouldn’t need to and encouraged against it a little on my interview day.

im interested in attending WSU but have been hearing that their med school is declining significantly since they lost affiliations with hospitals and that it'll be harder to get into competitive specialties. have even been hearing some people say OU WB > WSU MED. would y’all think that WSU>OU?

Current M3 here. The only affiliation we have lost is Children's Hospital of Michigan (and even then, most M3s do their inpatient pediatrics rotation there, some surgery M3s do pediatric surgery/anesthesia there, we have a couple child neurology spots for our M3 neuro clerkship and M4s still can do pediatrics electives there). While my cohort had 30 fewer M3 spots at Henry Ford, we still had ~80 M3 spots available at Henry Ford, and can do M4 electives there (although Wayne students only have first dibs on elective spots in April, May, and June). My cohort also gained 30 additional spots at DMC, and will continue to have first priority for electives there.
The big concern with our clinical sites is the class of 2025, which is going to have to absorb an unusually large number of students from the class of 2024 who had to delay taking Step 1/failed it on the first try.
TL/DR concerns over loss of clinical sites are overblown, lots of people are still applying to competitive specialties.

that’s what i figured. i consider wayne state the second best med school in the state of MI. crazy match list for competitive specialties

How long did it take for those of u accepted for them to respond after your interview? its been about 4 weeks for me and still nothing

Post II Waitlist. Interviewed 10/17, OOS with ties to the area.

For the few schools that distinguish between alternate and waitlist, I've heard that alternate is more like being at the top of the waitlist

Also got post II alternate decision… feelsbadman

Anyone have any insight on waitlist movement?

I’m wondering if they’ll give out some acceptances tomorrow since obviously the committee met and made some decisions, and they probably won’t next Thursday with Thanksgiving

How was everyone's experience with the interview? I am interviewing next week and kinda nervous!

I was a nervous wreck for it lol, but it was honestly very chill. My interviewers were not trying to get me or anything. Just a nice convo abt me and the school.

I really enjoyed my interview. It was a bit too long and tiring but good conversations especially with the student and faculty interviews. My faculty interviewer said he sees me changing the future of healthcare and that Wayne would be a great fit so I was a bit disappointed to be waitlisted tbh. I would say just prepare for the common questions and try to relax and share your story 🙂

I feel you lol. I wonder if we had the same faculty interviewer haha. He said the same thing but alas I'm also an alternate.

Has anybody received news that interviewed 10/28?
Also do they call or email for acceptances?

for those with knowledge of last cycle: what appears to be the average turnaround for alternates given a decision? I know some people got off in weeks and others in a month

Does anyone know how many acceptance offers Wayne gave out last year? Got my II not too long ago and I'm worried that the best case scenario for me is a spot on the bottom of the waitlist

They’re still only at ~300 admitted students.
