Anyone else get an email to apply before the deadline even though you already have and got a complete email 😅

Current M3 here. A car is basically required during M3 and M4. Almost every clinical site will require you to travel to a satellite location for outpatient clinics at some point during your training.
As an M2, having a car would definitely be helpful with commuting to your CEC (continuity clinic) site, although Wayne has a limited amount of sites that you can get to without one, so if you don’t have a car they can accommodate you.
Hello, I was wondering if you knew when orientation typically is for the incoming class? Some schools have two weeks of orientation, while others have one week. Can you comment on when orientation occurs and how long it is?

anyone who interviewed 11/2x received a decision yet? I was told we’d get one before Christmas but that doesn’t seem to be the case

It’s usually right after the 4th of July. When I was an M1 it was 2 weeks long, but I think it might be 1 week long now (I’m not certain though)

As for housing, I know that Wayne lists some apartments on their website. Do any of you have recommendations as to a good apartment complex in the midtown area?

I don’t live in mid-town, but I would highly recommend avoiding any Essential Property Management buildings except for Studio One. Be careful of Lafayette Towers in nearby Lafayette Park, they’ve had some issues with malfunctioning fire alarms that failed to go off during an actual fire.
I have a lot of friends who live at the Scott at Brush Park, which seems nice but is expensive

I also have friends who live at the Scott and really like it, with a roommate it's not too expensive ($1200 per person). I currently live in Ferndale which is 10-15 mins from campus and it's a super quick drive, my rent is half that of downtown Detroit

Did anyone on the alternate list get an A today? The admissions tracker went from 367 to 450 today and I'm surprised more people haven't responded here.

Hi guys -- maybe I'm being dumb, but after I received the A yesterday by email, I went into the portal and saw there's a tab now called "Offer Letter." It says in it "The official offer packet will be sent to your preferred AMCAS address. Refer to the offer response tab and make your decision 5 business days from the date of offer." Apparently accepting the offer is nonbinding, so you can still consider offers from other schools. But, I'm still confused on if I actually need to accept the offer within 5 days from yesterday? For other people with As, what did you do? Accept the offer? Or am I misunderstanding this?

Yes, accept the offer unless you plan to withdraw your application from WSU and are not considering it anymore. I accepted the offer right away so I can consider all my options fully come March/April.

Did you guys have to press accept offer or anything? When I tried the link in the email it said the url was invalid. However, when I logged on to my portal it said I had already accepted the offer. I am confused if there is anything I actively have to do?

The link in my email was also invalid, so I logged on to my portal and accepted the offer through there. Not sure what happened with yours?

Is anyone applying to the 3-year MD program? I am interested in the preventative med option, but am still on the fence because this 3 year program is so new.

What you have to lose? is a Recidency linked program. The only question here is whether you truly ready to commit to the field now. This program is only for those who are 100% sure what specialty they wish to pursue.

Getting by without a car ?

Getting by without a car ?
If you were willing to take mass transit (which is not the greatest in Detroit) and Uber, you could definitely make it as an M1 without a car. M2 would be more difficult, because many of the CEC sites are in the suburbs HOWEVER, Wayne has a limited number of sites available in midtown/Detroit proper that they will preferentially place students without cars at. During your M3 year a car is absolutely required: you will be starting/ending some of your rotations at odd hours and commuting to outpatient clinics that are not near your base hospital (IE DMC and Henry Ford students have to go to the suburbs for some of their family medicine/outpatient pediatrics placements). I would also imagine that a car is required for M4, however, that will also vary depending on which specialty you're doing, which hospitals you are rotating at, and how many aways you're doing (note I have not done M4 yet so I don't know).

OK... I saw that car insurance is inseanely high like $500 a month or so, is this the case?

Can I ask what admissions tracker you are referring to?

^They keep count of admissions data for this cycle on this page

My car is still registered in my home state so I don’t have first hand experience with this, but I have heard it’s quite expensive in Detroit

That's Illegal no?

For any other admitted students, did you get the code to fill out FAFSA (if you’re doing it, of course)? The college search only has one Wayne code and I want to make sure it’s the right one.

Any accepted students receive scholarship info/packages yet?

WSU's police department said it was OK and I called my insurance and they said it was also OK because I'm a student
