All I got was a message that said my application has been rated and I will be placed on the alternate list/waitlist. No idea what this means in terms of which third I am in. I did send in a Letter of Intent after this email.

Pre-II R this morning
Had my interview on 02/08 and received instructions for thank-you notes that same afternoon. Heard back in a little over 3 weeks and was WL with "strong rating" and "very high on alternate list". Was told I'd receive a letter with position on alternate list but have yet to get any updates.
The waiting list has historically been divided into thirds. It seems more often than not it doesn't go past the first 1/3 in pulling off the waiting list. Last year my son was in the first 3rd and got immediately offered after the deadline for final decisions from initial admittees. I believe last year was the first year in a few that applicants got accepted from the middle third before the process of admitting was finally over.
