2023-2024 Duke

Would anyone know if Duke takes letter of interest/pre-interview invitation update?

it’s the last wave if we assume they sent enough out to fill all slots for all 3 dates, but it’s also possible they’re doing a few smaller waves rather than inviting all of those people at once. Not sure.

I've thought about sending a letter of interest but what do I say? Here are two more pubs I have in the pipeline or here's a research grant I got that will make you question why I am doing this.

Maybe both? I also wrote about like what exactly i want to do at duke (i.e. research in cardiothoracic) which would be a nice touch

Doesn't really make sense for me. I already have a lot of pubs and the academic grants won't help me much for this process.

Honestly makes you wonder how much overlap there is. Feels almost like 80% of the interviews are going to the same 2% of applicants
Sdn has a fantastic ability to make you question how good you are.

Me, just chilling with three interviews, thinking about how I've done all right. If I get one more interview, I'll feel fantastic. Then i read sdn and I see people with 20 ii and 10 acceptances already. 😥😥

I really think if Jesus resurrected from the dead and cured leprosy in front of an adcom he’d still get Pre-II R’d at a school or two. Every elite superstar you see get accepted has been rejected somewhere too, which is humbling.

Any current student that attends Duke School of Medicine when do you take step 1 is that after year 1 cause from the curriculum guide on the website it looks like you start clerkships in year 2

Not a Duke student, but I asked someone this question and they mentioned that students tend to take it in the one-month summer break between M1 and M2 year or in the early months of M3.

I've never done an MMI interview before and I'm kind of confused how it will work. On the Duke website it says 2 of the stations will be "traditional interviews", do you guys know what those will be? Are those going to be full-on 30-40 min traditional interviews, or like a station where we have a brief conversation? Or something else?
They're 10 min like all others and the interviewer is blinded to your app. They have time to ask just one or two traditional style questions (think why us, why medicine, tell me about a weakness etc).
