Some unsolicited advice to temper expectations and neuroticism concerning application status from a fellow applicant. Tulane SOM received 16,000 applications for its class of 2026. According to their fact sheet, the class was comprised of 190 students. From their white coat ceremony, approximately 105 of those 190 completed at least 1 undergraduate or graduate degree from Tulane. The remaining 85 students come from approximately 80 colleges. Not exactly the best odds for those of us who didn't graduate from Tulane.
With that being said, their medical school is wonderful, and I'm sure myself and everyone else in this forum would be privileged to attend. However, I just wish they would be a bit more transparent regarding their extremely heavy bias for alma mater, particularly as a private institution. I can't imagine the other 15.5 thousand of us are getting much of a look for the remaining 85 seats, though I can't say I blame them for still encouraging 16,000 applications, as I, too, wouldn't mind the nearly 2 million dollars in secondary fee income.
Yup. Tulane has 1yr BMS Master Programs and these programs (i.e Biochemistry, Micro/Immuno, Anatomy) all tend to feed into Tulane SOM program, with the majority of those students doing ED Tulane. Even if they are pushed to regular decision, they are still favored over other RD applicants. Some unsolicited advice to temper expectations and neuroticism concerning application status from a fellow applicant. Received application under review email.
i didn't see this and learned the hard way. Also, there's another that asks: What have you been pursuing since you graduated? (correct me if I'm wrong, but i think no limit)I would also note that there are questions asking 1) if you worked for Americorps, Peace Corps or Teach for America and 2) if you studied abroad. If you answer yes to either of these, a prompt shows up to give a short description (100 words).
Completed 07/13/23.Completed?
