Has anyone not received a secondary yet? Is it worth reaching out via email?

i interview here next week! is it conversational? did they ask tough questions and were u given the opportunity to ask them stuff and converse with them?

Did anyone happen to ask how long after the interview regular decisions are released? Can’t find it online!!

Super conversational and the standard set of questions. I had time at the end to ask questions.

Im pretty frustrated with NEOMED. I submitted my primary mid july last yar and was verfifed in mid August. I didn't get a secondary until early November.

I applied earlier (mid june) with a stronger app this year and still haven't gotten a secondary from them. I know they screen but I am instate, I don't remember them chasing stats so hardcore.

does attending an interview candidate visit day boost chances? just got an email. i am not near ohio but will fly myself there to express interest if it helps prior to receiving a decision. the email did say “if you are in the area” and my interviewer mentioned the event, so i was wondering if not attending it would be disadvantageous especially if you’re “on the cusp” / this is a soft requirement

This what I’m thinking… any help would be appreciated… especially because I got railed by my interviewer

still no secondary from them as an instate applicant. I got one last year around this time. kinda frustrated with them at this point

Yea bro my interviewer wasn’t even from Ohio and wasn’t even a faculty at the school so he couldn’t answer any questions I prepped 😭😭

Wait I have my interview coming up and now you got me scared. What does this even mean?😭
The interviews are mainly chill, I think it was just the specific interviewer I was paired with though. I will say, expect it to be chill, but do go over your stuff thoroughly in the chance you get an interviewer who is more “grilling” style.

Y'all im kinda worried cuz even tho Neomed has solid in-state bias, last year, 90/185 seats that were matriculated from the early assurance program/early decision. That really cooked, no? Im confused how admit.orgs numbers really mean anything when a lot of these are early assurance. Which, I also thought Neomed got rid of
NEOMED still has early assurance programs with 9 universities in northeast ohio where students can apply their sophomore year and reserve a seat for themselves, which is usually around 80 seats of NEOMED's class each year, about another 2-10 seats are from early decision applicants. What NEOMED got rid of in recent years is their BS/MD program where students right out of highschool could be accepted into NEOMED, they just had to do a bachelors at kent state first. That said about 50% of NEOMED's class is taken up every year by early assurance and early decision leaving about half the seats available for RD applicants. The numbers you see on MSAR for MCAT and GPA reflect only the ED/RD applicants, not the early assurance students, because early assurance students just have to meet certain criteria NEOMED sets out.

The early assurance is included for class size and other data but they just only incorporate RD applicants into what they consider their median MCAT and gpa to be

Correct but basically every early assurance applicant gets an interview

I'm really going to not get a secondary from these guys after getting one last year as an in state applicant, make that make sense, if anything my app is much stronger this year

+1 IS II yesterday. Secondary submitted 8/17

IS R PRE II on the grounds of not getting a secondary. Very annoyed with NEOMED for this since I got a secondary last year when I applied later with a weaker application

do they screen

They do I think, though they do not make it public. Its frustrating as an in state applicant that got a secondary last year to not get one this year when I applied earlier with a much stronger application. I had no reason to think they would not have sent me a secondary, otherwise I would have 100% not bothered applying

What does this December update mean? My brain's too scared of reading through it and comprehending it tbh. Mainly cuz I thought acceptances always came out in January? Why is it December now?

And were there any other major things they mentioned?
It means that they may release decisions on late december or at least the first wave.

Why is it December now? Idk, ask yourself this question, mate.

Can someone explain how this waitlist and acceptance stuff work? Cuz it seems like they are going to 200-210 seats, but around 90 are taken with early assurance/decision. But last year, 895 people were interviewed according to AMCAS. And their AMCAS listing says they have 800 waitlist spots and 300 get taken off. Does everyone get put on the waitlist first, then? Or is AMCAS wrong about either the total interview number or waitlist number? Seems concerning ngl
800 people who interview will start an the alternate list. From that list, 300 will get an A. Schools often over admit because students will go elsewhere. Don’t know how they do it, but they always manage to fill their classes nearly perfectly.

Thats kinda crazy tho that 800/895 people get waitlisted. Its basically not a real decision day then since no one gets rejected and barely anyone accepted
It’s just how they operate. I believe Albany does something similar, in that they accept 10% straight up and WL the rest. Makes sense though, NEO wants to keep its doctors home. Since you’re IS, you have a good chance.

Does anyone have information about the in-person visit days? Just show up? The office hasn't responded to my email since last Friday, which might be indicative of not being high on their list?

Will decisions be released this week? It said they would announce decisions late December, but I know that they're also taking a two week break.

for those that received decisions today, was it phone call or email?

+1 IS waitlist. between a waitlist at Toledo and a waitlist at Neomed now i'm feeling pretty down.
