I'd love to hear if anyone else has other insights, but I do know some people were rejected without getting a waitlist spot.I remember last year MSAR saying that 200 people were placed on the waitlist, but MSAR doesn't say anything about that this year. Does anyone know if pretty much all 500 applicants not accepted yet are on the waitlist or if it's actually 200 or so?
200 on the WL is an insanely low amount, considering their class size is 184. I feel like they would run out of students on the WL to fill seats. Schools need to accept, in total, usually 2-3x the total class size to have their seats filled, due to others withdrawing for other programs. Who knows, but I’d suspect there are many more on the WL.I remember last year MSAR saying that 200 people were placed on the waitlist, but MSAR doesn't say anything about that this year. Well they supposedly took only 75 off last year so is it that far fetched?200 on the WL is an insanely low amount, considering their class size is 184. Yes, they do not let you know. But they encourage you to prepare for and apply early if you have to reapply, which I think is smart. I was in your shoes last year and ended up improving my app and successfully reapplying. I know it can be a discouraging place to be, but trust me, it will get better. VCU has decent WL movement, I've heard. Best of luck!Do we really never get a general idea of where we are on the waitlist? Either high, middle, or low? I really wish I could know since I’m most likely preparing for a reapplication 😞.
I have the same issue! I emailed but no response yet.Hello all! I just checked the portal and I see the tab for the “transition to medical school” and to create the eID you need a banner number and mine is blank, just wondering if I’m the only one facing this issue, if that’s the case, then I’ll reach out to them on Monday 😩
Maybe a dumb question: Did they give you a list of scholarships or a scholarship offer???Just received a letter for scholarships!
why may 1st?I wonder if WL applicants without any acceptance(s) have a higher preference for colleges to save the yield rate. Only time will tell, waiting for May 1st
April 30th is the day people holding multiple acceptances have to commit to one school so waitlist movement will begin May 1stwhy may 1st?
Could also be some movement next week, people have to drop to 3 offers by the 15thApril 30th is the day people holding multiple acceptances have to commit to one school so waitlist movement will begin May 1st
I highly doubt it, based on the threads from previous years there hasn't been any movement prior to April 25Could also be some movement next week, people have to drop to 3 offers by the 15th
Never back down never whatI highly doubt it, based on the threads from previous years there hasn't been any movement prior to April 25
NEVER GIVE UP!Never back down never what
Dang straight up no interview for bad casper is crazy🤣found a pretty cool document while neurotically looking for stuff on waitlist data. looks like a recent document on how vcu admits students/extends interviews. kinda gives more clarity on the back end stuff, and would def give it a look if there are any future applicants lurking!!
(also i’m pretty sure I got a q1 casper LOL but they still interviewed me so there’s hope)
https://assets.som.vcu.edu/pdfs/policies/student-selection.pdf
i’m guessing they meant q1? but it’s strange cause i got interviewed with a q1 casperThey said they don't interview people who score 4th quartile casper lol
I got interviewed and got q4 so maybe thats outdated or something?i’m guessing they meant q1? but it’s strange cause i got interviewed with a q1 casper
Commit to enroll, where you commit to one school and are taken off waitlistsWhat's cte haha
“Offers made from the waitlist June 1 – VCU Choose Your Medical School (CYMS) deadline, use rank order list, considering only applicants who have no seat, as indicated by the AMCAS Choose Your Medical School (CYMS) report data.”So those with an offer elsewhere are no longer under consideration from the WL in June? That some good peace of mind so I can CTE elsewhere.
thats just a typo lmaoThey said they don't interview people who score 4th quartile casper lol
I dont think thats what that means, they used the word "may" which means they are gonna go based on rank whether you have an acceptance or notbut “Offers made from the waitlist May 1 – May 30, use rank order list, considering only applicants who have not committed to another institution but may have a seat elsewhere, as indicated by the AMCAS Choose Your Medical School (CYMS) report data.”
So people who hold acceptance at other institutions still hold advantage to those who don't because they can get accepted earlier
This is what I took it to mean. If we get an A late April, will we have to decide before May 1st to PTE or will VCU give some leeway for decision making?I dont think thats what that means, they used the word "may" which means they are gonna go based on rank whether you have an acceptance or not
I thought if you get A you have a seat no matter what, they are not going to withdraw your A. You have until the deadline to choose commit to one school. I think this is only about the people who didn't get an A still on WL?This is what I took it to mean. If we get an A late April, will we have to decide before May 1st to PTE or will VCU give some leeway for decision making?
I believe they usually give you a week to decide? I could be wrongThis is what I took it to mean. If we get an A late April, will we have to decide before May 1st to PTE or will VCU give some leeway for decision making?
I’m hoping they can give a bit longer. I visit Richmond in mid May and want to see it before/if I PTE there.I believe they usually give you a week to decide? I could be wrong
They won’t tell you.are we allowed to ask for our rank on the WL?
Do we know if there's a reason for this? My buddy applied to PA programs and almost every one he got waitlisted at told him his exact position on the waitlist lolThey won’t tell you.
they dont wanna give us more hope 😔Do we know if there's a reason for this? My buddy applied to PA programs and almost every one he got waitlisted at told him his exact position on the waitlist lol
2021-2022 cycle, WL movement started ~April 11 (likely started this early due to it being a COVID year, so things were more unpredictable)anybody know when we'll start seeing movement on the WL?
please VCU😭😭😭2021-2022 cycle, WL movement started ~April 11 (likely started this early due to it being a COVID year, so things were more unpredictable)
2022-2023: ~April 25
2023-2024: ~May 1 (seems to be late because there were FAFSA delays this year)
My guess is it will start sometime this week or the week after, but definitely by May 1
Were you recently accepted?is there a groupme/facebook group/something for accepted students? if so, could someone DM me the link? Thanks!
Shouldn’t be negative, they just might not have info to providedoes anybody know how vcu feels about calling/emailing for updates?
