Are they notified upon document uploads to the portal? Trying to figure out if I should send LOI to the admissions email or just upload to portal.
I'm going to email them and let them know tomorrow. I doubt they are paying much attention to it unless they review their portal uploads weekly.

did you get an answer on if we need to email them as well as upload to the portal?
Not yet! I'll share here when I do.

Edit: Got an email that said “thanks for informing us” so maybe they did not know I had uploaded it.

I remember last year MSAR saying that 200 people were placed on the waitlist, but MSAR doesn't say anything about that this year. Does anyone know if pretty much all 500 applicants not accepted yet are on the waitlist or if it's actually 200 or so?

I'd love to hear if anyone else has other insights, but I do know some people were rejected without getting a waitlist spot.

200 on the WL is an insanely low amount, considering their class size is 184. I feel like they would run out of students on the WL to fill seats. Schools need to accept, in total, usually 2-3x the total class size to have their seats filled, due to others withdrawing for other programs. Who knows, but I’d suspect there are many more on the WL.

Well they supposedly took only 75 off last year so is it that far fetched?

Do we really never get a general idea of where we are on the waitlist? Either high, middle, or low? I really wish I could know since I’m most likely preparing for a reapplication 😞.
Yes, they do not let you know. But they encourage you to prepare for and apply early if you have to reapply, which I think is smart. I was in your shoes last year and ended up improving my app and successfully reapplying. I know it can be a discouraging place to be, but trust me, it will get better. VCU has decent WL movement, I've heard. Best of luck!

Hello all! I just checked the portal and I see the tab for the “transition to medical school” and to create the eID you need a banner number and mine is blank, just wondering if I’m the only one facing this issue, if that’s the case, then I’ll reach out to them on Monday 😩

I have the same issue! I emailed but no response yet.

Could also be some movement next week, people have to drop to 3 offers by the 15th
I highly doubt it, based on the threads from previous years there hasn't been any movement prior to April 25

found a pretty cool document while neurotically looking for stuff on waitlist data. looks like a recent document on how vcu admits students/extends interviews. kinda gives more clarity on the back end stuff, and would def give it a look if there are any future applicants lurking!!
(also i’m pretty sure I got a q1 casper LOL but they still interviewed me so there’s hope)

Dang straight up no interview for bad casper is crazy🤣

So those with an offer elsewhere are no longer under consideration from the WL in June? That some good peace of mind so I can CTE elsewhere.

“Offers made from the waitlist June 1 – VCU Choose Your Medical School (CYMS) deadline, use rank order list, considering only applicants who have no seat, as indicated by the AMCAS Choose Your Medical School (CYMS) report data.”

it sounds like if you commit to another school on cyms by june 1st, but are still on the wl at vcu, they only pull al applicants with no seat on cyms. but who knows…. this doc said they don’t interview q4 casper applicants 🤷🏻‍♀️

Has anyone received a scholarship from here yet? Or any ideas on when they will be rolling them out?

but “Offers made from the waitlist May 1 – May 30, use rank order list, considering only applicants who have not committed to another institution but may have a seat elsewhere, as indicated by the AMCAS Choose Your Medical School (CYMS) report data.”
So people who hold acceptance at other institutions still hold advantage to those who don't because they can get accepted earlier

I dont think thats what that means, they used the word "may" which means they are gonna go based on rank whether you have an acceptance or not

This is what I took it to mean. If we get an A late April, will we have to decide before May 1st to PTE or will VCU give some leeway for decision making?

Anyone know if it is feasable to classify as an in state resident? Or know anyone that successfully did so?

I thought if you get A you have a seat no matter what, they are not going to withdraw your A. You have until the deadline to choose commit to one school. I think this is only about the people who didn't get an A still on WL?
