Does anyone know where to submit a letter of updates/interest?
At the last first Friday event the director basically said there is no need to send updates (unless it’s super major like MCAT or research publications) because everything they need is available in your AMCAS file. She also said they are sitting on 5,000 unread emails at the moment.

9000 apps? damn they also interview like 5 % of that. Howard is a lot more competitive than I thought.
It's definitely going to be over 10k applications for Howard this year. This year at almost every medical school has had record breaking applications so it definitely is becoming more competitive.

I heard Howard has a joint research program with Stanford. What’s the application progress for that like? Is it pretty competitive?
It is somewhat competitive because the Stanford program has limited spots and it's split between Howard and the other hbcu med schools Morehouse, meharry, and charles drew. Application usually opens around January iirc. You can rank preferred specialties for the research but it's not guaranteed you'll get it. And for my cohort in 2024 we had to arrange our own housing. I'm not sure if that's the case this year and forward.

And even if you can't get into the program don't be deterred. Howard also has its own summer research program for summer after m1, and there's many other research opportunities in the area, like NIH that's 20-30 minutes away.

This forum’s awfully quiet in comparison to the previous years 😂 especially with med schools apparently receiving record-high numbers of applicants this cycle. No updates from anyone?

For anyone who received an acceptance to Howard Med with a January MCAT retake, what was the timeline from the school receiving your scores, getting an interview invite, then your acceptance? Were you placed on a waitlist? And if you don’t mind sharing, what were your stats? I was encouraged to take it in Jan and apply (already have a score but trying to shoot higher).
I also did a post bacc at another HBCU and they take January MCAT retakes on a case-by-case basis. I guess a follow up question is how can I maximize my chances at getting a late acceptance this cycle when I have a great application?
Thanks!
I would like to know this as well

I interviewed late October and they pushed back the decision release from two weeks later to by tomorrow. Did anyone else get that email?? Had anyone who interviewed around that time heard back??
