When there is an inevitable surge of new visitors to this thread on Friday, please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about what school/living is like here. I'm a current student who would be happy to provide my perspective, and you can DM me or just ask me here.

If you match to TTUHSC, let me be the first to welcome you to HSC; you will enjoy it. It's certainly not perfect, but it has been a good place to get trained. If you match elsewhere*, congratulations! If you don't match, be kind to yourself. This is a brutal process, and this is not the end of the road for you.

*If you matched at UT Austin or Texas A&M, you have my condolences. #wreckem

hi yall! I interviewed on 10/03 and was offered a seat on 10/16 🙂 super thankful and excited about potentially attending med school here. for any current students, how easy/ hard was it to find roommates + housing? I'm expecting to move across the country, and not sure where to start looking. thanks!

Housing is not too hard to find. There are lots of good apartments and housing is pretty cheap. There is a spreadsheet that is spread around after match and at the start of the year to pair up with potential roommates. There are also constantly people who are looking for students to join their lease too. The class is 180 students, so there will be plenty of people that fit what you need.

Housing is affordable enough that you can reasonably get your own studio if you want. Lots of people live at the Renaissance Apartments or Slide North. I can also recommend Catalina West, Abbey Glen, Portfino, Calais, 19 West, and El Mirador.

I know match day was only yesterday, but does anyone know when we should receive our financial aid package?
My class got some basic info about financial aid in late March with actual offers around the middle of June.

Keep an eye out for emails from admissions and financial aid about how to register and submit any requested info. If you went to TTU for undergrad, you're already part of the TTU System and will likely get access slightly sooner.

Financial aid will actually post in mid-July. Student Businesses Services will post the exact date here when it gets closer.

The main things you guys need to be looking out for at this point are details on how to join the class Discord, how to activate your eraider/email, how to submit the scholarship application, how to submit financial aid documents, how to show proof of immunizations, how to register for classes, how to select what campus you want for MS3/4, etc.

These types of emails will come sporadically over the coming weeks/months so don't freak out if you don't get it all done right now. Just watch your emails.

I've also posted a few things previously in this thread (like what you should and should not buy before starting school here), which I definitely recommend skimming over.

If anyone of you are interested in dual-degree or accelerated programs, it's not too late for several of them. You can still sign up for stuff like the MBA or MPH and take classes starting in Mayish. If you're interested in family medicine, you can complete your MD in 3 years through the Family Medicine Accelerated Track (FMAT). This program is super cool because you pay for 1 less year in tuition (3 years) AND the school will pay for another year, so your tuition is essentially cut in half (totaling about $45k for you for all of your MD). You can also get a guaranteed spot in a TTUHSC FM residency. If any of that sounds interesting, there is more detail here.

Do you know when in May you would start taking classes? Early May or late May

It depends on what program you do, but I think almost all are late May. The MBA is through TTU which is part of the same system as TTUHSC, but it has its own academic calendar. The MBA and engineering masters would start in late May. https://www.depts.ttu.edu/officialpublications/calendar/25-26_onepage_calendar.pdf

The MPH is through TTUHSC and also looks like it is late May. https://www.ttuhsc.edu/population-p...ademic_calendar/Current_Academic_Calendar.pdf

Does anyone know how waitlist works at tech lubbock? DId not match here unfortunately but this is my top pick and I did not receive any waitlist confirmation. :/

would any current students be able to walk us through the 4 campus locations for clinical years?
from my understanding the location does not really matter in the end, your match, even in competitive surgical specialties comes down to your step scores, LORs, etc. so could you maybe talk about the small things that make each campus stand out?
thanks!

My info may be dated a little but MSAR used to say they usually have around 20 WL acceptances and put about 40 on the WL. Most movement will happen in April but I know classmates that got accepted as late as July.

They will provide way more details when they ask you to choose but Lubbock HSC/UMC (public county hospital) has the most students and highest acuity patients. There's lots of residents/fellows, so you're less hands-on than other campuses.

Covenant (private hospital system in Lubbock) is smaller for student count and has free food. That's a nice perk. Amarillo is large but has fewer residents so you can be more hands-on. PB is expensive so you get a scholarship to help offset that. It's the smallest and has lots of hands on since there are fewer residents there.

Generally, people seem to prefer to stay in Lubbock to avoid the hassle of moving, but any of the campuses will train you reasonably well.

I am a current MS1, and I got off the waitlist last year. Match day was on 2/14, I received the waitlist email on 2/22, and then got off the waitlist on 5/20. So, I would hold out for a waitlist email either at the end of this week or the beginning of next week. Good luck! I know that this situation is not ideal in the slightest, but I was right there with you, and it's not over until it's over.

Has anyone heard of Tech matching scholarship/financial aid offers? Also, I saw that financial aid offers typically come out in June, is there any chance we'd hear from TTU about scholarships before May??

Does anyone know what waitlist movement looks like, how they choose off of it since it’s not ranked, and when movement starts to happen in past years (earliest people have heard back)

+1 WL IS. Are letters of intent helpful at this point or not?
A letter is unlikely to be the thing that makes or breaks an application, especially this late in the game, but I promise that you'll feel better if you know you did everything you could try. TTU really does value people who want to go to their school. If you can articulate specific reasons if why you want to attend TTUHSC, beyond the fact that you just want to get into a medical school, I would absolutely send in a letter. There's only a couple dozen people on the wait-list and a letter might be the thing that puts you slightly ahead of another applicant.

I don't know official policies, but from interactions with faculty/admissions it seems like a big part of it is trying to keep a certain mix of different criteria. If a 4.0/520 gets off the WL somewhere else and declines TTU, they are more likely to replace them with a similar applicant. If a local, high-service applicant leaves to somewhere else, they're more like to replace them with a similar applicant (as opposed to that 4.0/520).

Can any current students weigh in on what summer between year 1 and 2 looks like? Trying to plan my wedding for June of 2027 since it seems like it’s either then or after graduation lol

You will finish on May 21, 2027. Unless you're doing a dual-degree program, you will have zero classes or academic responsibilities until MS2 starts in late July. (It is July 27, 2026 for those entering MS2 this fall.) So you will have roughly two months off. To play it safe, I would aim to have your wedding in June or early July in case you have to remediate any MS1 exams, which would be done in late May.

A lot of people will do some light studying and summer research projects, but neither of those will prevent you from getting married. If you don't want to do it in that summer, you also get about two weeks off for winter break in MS1-4 You also will have March and April off after MS2, which is used for dedicated for Step 1, but could be a viable time to get married. There's a similar period that starts in May for Step 2 dedicated after MS3. In MS4, you could also just take a 2-4+ week period off at any point in the year and get married then. There's lots of flexibility for MS4, so don't feel you have to do it after MS1 or after graduation.

You can view current schedules for several years at this link. Dates are usually very close to this from year-to-year.

Either way, congratulations!

Thank you very much! This is super helpful information and I appreciate it greatly! Look out for an invitation to the wedding 🙂

Hi all, just got waitlisted last week, was curious if any waitlisted folks sent LOI post waitlist, and did you send to their admissions e-mail?

For those of you who prematched and matched again to TTUHSC (like me 😀), did you receive another acceptance email (or just the one from prematch?)

I never thought about "receiving an acceptance email on match day again" until i talked to my friend today, thanks!!
