So I've been thinking about Case Western's PBL style curriculum for a while now and I was wondering if there are any current Case students out there that would like to weigh in (I'm sure this has been discussed a million times). I'm having a hard time pinning down exactly what kind of learning environment I thrive best in. However, I do know that I definitely like time to study on my own, in fact it's an absolute must or I will be complete bull&#*% on any exam. That being said, once I have mastered material (or as much as I can) on my own, I generally like to discuss it with others in order to gain different perspectives. However, I don't know how I feel about a curriculum that doesn't stress lectures. I mean we're paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to an institution to educate us. So if the Case curriculum isn't centered around great professors providing excellent lecture material, is it worth the cost? I like to study material on my own AFTER a professor has steered me in the right direction. Is it safe to assume that at Case, I will be searching for material on my own? I'm not sure I'm approaching this from the wrong perspective, but as of now I just want to know if I should attend a school that seems to rely on students accessing and learning the course material on their own.
Not to be a complete debbie-downer, I did enjoy the friendliness of the students and staff at Case on my interview day. Everyone seemed extremely enthusiastic and profoundly interested in recruiting new students. However, I did get the sense that the administration took to "defending" their curriculum a lot.
Does anyone have links to Case's match list and board scores? Also what percentage of students match into their first choice?
(As a side note my other option is UIC...vastly different curriculum. I'm OOS for both schools but I'm going to leave cost out of this decision for right now. I'll factor it in once I get a grasp on the other details.)
Thanks in advance for your advice guys!
