Marian University (MU-COM) Discussion Thread 2012 - 2013

Does anyone know how far away the school is from the city? Google streetview shows lots of grass...I know its not entirely built up yet.

I also am complete up to the point of my letters being uploaded (sent over two weeks ago); so I called. It appears we are all in the same boat and Ms. Early said not to worry. Her advice was to give it until Monday of next week to check back and if then they weren't posted maybe give them a call or shoot them an e-mail again.

I think I'm going to have to ask Ms. Early about my letters to see if that helps. I hate having to keep pestering her, but none of my app materials seem to be checked as received unless I specifically ask. 🙁
 
I got my complete email today, too. They said we should hear about interviews in roughly two (or more) weeks from now.

I have a 2.98 sGPA, 3.14 cGPA, 29Q MCAT and Canadian, do you guys think I should take a shot at Marian?
 
Just got an email from Marian that said: "Congratulations!............ we just updated your MCAT scores."

Way to give me an MI, MU-COM.

LORs still are not uploaded yet. 🙁

I don't think anybody can give u a valid answer because we have nothing to go on at this point. You have a good MCAT so there's no hurt in sending one, but they seem pretty set on ties to Indiana so I'm not sure how many Canadians they would consider. But again, who really knows 😕 sorry!

They were only sent by VIrtualEvals on the 14th. I'll wait till monday to see if anything changes since they said they were uploading the last batches this week. If nothing changes I'll send him an inquiry.. Thanks👍

Mine still don't show up in the portal (they were snail mailed in), but he was kind enough to tell me which letters they had in-hand. Just FYI to anyone still waiting on letters to show up on the portal.

So they will accept LOR that are snail mailed in?

Yeah, mine will be too, because my school won't allow applicants to see the committee LOR and I don't want to mess around with my DO LOR. Thanks 😀

I just wish they'd update my actual portal so I could officially say I'm officially complete... oh well.
 
Can anyone tell me how many letters Marian allows and which ones are required. I am almost ready to go here.
 
Well, my portal finally has all green checkmarks... I guess I'm finally complete!

I sent two science profs and an MD. I do not know if they will accept more than that. I confirmed that they have two of my letters in-hand last week, and my portal still is not showing any letters received. To those that are complete, does it specifically list your letters, or is the box just green?

Nope it doesn't list anything specifically, just a very general "confirmed".
The portal does take a significant while for them to update so if you have confirmation
by word its just a waiting game on your end.
 
anyone know what the curriculum will be like? Just received the secondary!
 
So I noticed on my complete email that it says to expect around 2 weeks to hear if you get an II or not, for anyone who is wondering.

It does also say that it can take longer at certain times of the year.😉 lol.

Yeah I know, but I was told directly from Admissions to expect the first round "in a week or so" last Friday, 8/24. The ever-irritating "soon". 😉
 
FYI. The first round of interview invitations will go out on 9/7. Interviews will start on 10/5.

pretty awesome, wish more school admins would post useful info like this. always good to stay updated by the school..
