Well not looking good for acceptance...it is past 5 EST so they probably already did all of their acceptance phone calls. Was really hoping I would be on that list...great school!

thanks! 🙂 well they have a date for tomorrow open and even though I only live an hour away from Marian, I decided to go with the next available date on Feb 2, tomorrow felt a little too sudden lol
 
For those who have received an acceptance, wait list, or rejection, do you remember when you received your call or email EST?

My waitlist call was received at about 7 or 8 ET on a Friday and my acceptance call was around 4 pm ET on a Thursday. Not sure about emails but when I got my wait list phone call he told me the rejection emails were just sent out so I would assume some time Friday afternoon.

It's still early and no one has posted about being accepted so don't freak out yet!

I just checked my phone to see what time I received the call...my phone wouldn't let me go back that far🙁 From what I can remember, I think the acceptance call came Thursday around this time --- I really can't remember the time though lol sorry.

Edit: Like DrMeows said...no one has posted anything yet about getting a call today...soooo

For those of you waitlisted, did you get a call or email? I thought we were going to get a call, but I just got an email this morning with the quartile that I am in listed. Also, is there a difference between the hold status that they talked about during the interview and the alternate list?

That's interesting maybe they are doing it differently now because I received a call when I was waitlisted.
 
Just got the acceptance call at 6:38 pm CST 🙂 so happy. If anyone needs help with interview prep or resources, I would be more than happy to help. On cloud 9 right now!!!

+1. Maybe the volume of calls they had to make came to be too much, which is totally understandable. I'd be exhausted making all those phone calls to blood thirsty pre-meds too 😉

Or maybe where you're placed on the waitlist, High vs Low, factors in to whether you receive a call of not? Sheeew, I'm exhausted just talking about it.😀
 
Yay! The facebook group is really getting big now 🙂 please join when accepted, there is a lot of good info on there including roomate talk for those of us that will be moving to Indy in the summer.

Interview day is quickly approaching! I feel so excited because this is going to be my first interview!
 
Have some of you guys (non-Indiana residents) chosen this school over A.T. Still SOMA, VCOM or LMU-DCOM? I got acceptances to the three schools, and will have to put down my deposit before interviewing at MU, so I am actually considering whether or not I should cancel the interview. Would some of you tell me the reasons why they have chosen this school over other schools they got accepted at? I hope this question didn't come out the wrong way. It seems like a great school, and I would like to check it out, it's just that this whole admissions process is getting rather tiring and expensive...

First of all, congrats on multiple acceptances! The timing of events in the cycle can be pretty inconvenient...sucks. When people are fortunate enough to have a decision like yours, they make it based on lots of factors...most are specific to the individual.

That said, I am a non-Indiana resident and chose MU over some of those schools you mentioned. Between this thread, the school website and information available on the Internet you should get a decent idea of what's going on over at MU-COM. If you havent heard, its pretty awesome!😎 This thread is exceptionally valuable because MU-COM has been gracious enough to answer many questions and they have also provided quite a bit of insight throught the cycle right here on SDN...have you seen any other school do this? Many people have listed what they like about MU-COM throughout this thread too.

I know first hand how expensive/tiring the admissions process is...but knowing when you found the perfect match in a school makes it all worthwhile. 😀

Received a call on Dec. 21st to tell me I was put on the alternate list pending my final semester grades (which will be available after Dec 31st). It was still a really enjoyable phone call hahah; Bryan Moody is a cool guy.

Good luck! I agree about Bryan. Where did you already get accepted and how does MU-COM compare to that/those school(s) for you?

Ya know, I am not sure if they have created a seal specifically for the COM itself yet. I wonder if it might be in the works? It looks like both of the other new schools have created one though...

Thank you for the well wishes! I've already been accepted to PCOM in Philly. We shall see what the future holds! I would have to say that I am very happy with PCOM being so well-established in the DO world, yet Marian looks quite promising for being a brand new school. Good luck, everyone!
 
Hi everyone

I am a Canadian and am curious about this new school. I have a couple of questions that I hope people can answer (I have googled and haven't found them so far)
1. Are there residency spots for these new DOs?
2. I know that the AOA + ACGME residencies are merging, but is there an a lot of non-competitive ACGME spots currently in Indiana?
3. Are you worried about name recognition, being inaugural class, and potentially matching to OTHER states, which may be difficult as residency directors may not be familiar with this.

I'm very interested in this new DO school, but because it is new, there is always concern.
 
If anyone (perhaps those that interview this weekend) happens to hear anybody at MU-COM mention how many applications the school has received to date, would you mind posting it? I'm just curious.

Interviewed here this weekend and I absolutely love it!!! Waiting two weeks to hear if I got in is going to be torture!

Good luck! Don't let anyone tell you to be patient...we all know waiting is, in fact, torture! But, luckily MUCOM has such a quick turn around 👍:luck:
 
Anyone else having trouble with the MUCOM portal?

I keep getting a Malware warning, no matter which browser I use. I dont get it with any other website, so I have to think that its something with the portal...


Anyone else?

I'm curious- did you get the feel that Indy is pretty similiar to Mpls only a bit smaller? I ran into someone at the "big" mall down there who was from the 612 and she gave me a bit of a heads up about living in Indy, she even told me that the Marian undergrad has a reputation a lot like St. Olaf 😀 😍

Hi, does anyone know if biochemistry can be substituted for organic chemistry II? Thanks and congrats to all those admitted! Marian seems like an amazing school.

We are currently working to resolve the issue with Google and our website hosting company.
