I have a friend at the med school that said she heard another Ned student sent one in for another applicant and said she'd write me one if it could help get an interview... I just wanna make sure rowansom doesn't look down on these letters before submitting one... Would wanna hurt my chances of getting in for a silly mistake like that.... I would not send in any letter written by a med student since they are essentially your future peers and can't really comment on your personal qualities as objectively as a practising physician or a professor could. LOR from DO physicians, a letter of interest, or updates would serve you better but then again they are unlikely to help you secure an interview invite either.

I think I misunderstood the question. If you hold multiple DO acceptances, you have to pick one by 5/15. Sorry about that

Hey sorry for the late response but everything kinda happened very fast and I wanted to give a good response. Complete 1/22, II 2/24 and I interviewed 2/27......they had interviews on 2/26 and 2/27 and then went from March 18-March 27....So I figured the sooner the better. But this meansss don't sweat it if you didn't receive an II yet...there are still open dates.
My stats aren't stellar: ugrad: 3.3 Masters: 3.5...My "highest" score 25....but I worked up to 5 jobs and full time during my masters ...to pay off school...tons of EC and volunteer (local and abroad)..etc ...also learned Spanish as a nonnative speaker. I just wanted to put all that out there to say don't LOSE HOPE!!!!....
interview day....Rowan's staff and students were amazing!!! interview 1-1 typical questions....relaxed.. some interviewees ran from anywhere 15min- 1 hour so don't be discouraged. I personally love how close knit the students were.....as our tour guides were giving the tour you constantly saw people saying wassup to eachother and or you saw students doing OMM on the OMM tables right outside of the admissions department...they truly seem like a family...also one thing I liked was that they don't "rank" their students there are no letter grades given out.... We here back in 2-4 weeks so Hopefully I get some good news ..fingers crossed 🙂

Thanks for the info and good luck. Do you know how long they are interviewing until? Still wondering why I haven't got an ii from them as a IS applicant.

I would think probably up until April...but For sure there are atleast 6 days in March. Marisol, program assistant, did say they were behind because of the whole switch to online and so many apps !! Stay optimistic!

Yeah, last cycle they interviewed into late April. In addition to this, they are a little behind this cycle due to a few issues with the new online application system. So combining both of those factors, there is still much time left in the cycle. Good Luck!!
 
Is anyone that is interviewing Thursday March 5th willing to split a rental car?
 
Does anyone know when they usually call/email for interviews? is there a day during the week that is common? also do they send invitations via email or do they call?
 
not sure if there is a specific day that they send out II, but I received mine via email.

Does anyone if you get confirmation from the admissions office once you submitted your acceptance deposit? I'm wondering if I should call the office since I haven't heard anything from them.

They do not send out a confirmation, though I'm sure you can call the office if there is any concern!

I believe they hold every application until the end of the cycle. so I guess in a way yes? I think at the end of the cycle they would give you a letter of regret email.
 
Is anyone in the area willing to share a ride?
 
Can anybody tell me how much initial deposit is? And also are you able to pay in state tuition after the first year if you're out of state? An extra 88 grand for just being out of state seems a little unreasonable

There's only one deposit, and it's $195. If you're OOS when you start, you're OOS all 4 years, unfortunately. I think the rule changed a couple years ago.
 
I wonder if the snow will further delay the acceptances for mid to late February interviewees. It's to my understanding that the committee meets on Thursdays

yay! congrats!! to my knowledge, regular lectures are not mandatory. The lectures are recorded for you to watch at home. However, the two times I have been on tours of the school - the student ambassadors highly suggested going to class instead of trying to watch lectures at home. Other clinical things and labs have required attendance.

SO MUCH SNOW RIGHT NOW! I think they actually meet on friday afternoons though, because they make calls on late friday afternoons after the meetings. There is definitely a possibility of things being shut down tomorrow too...

Because I couldnt reach her for the past few weeks + they didnt bother calling me back even though they said they would after receiving my messages, I almost gave up. But I got an interview invitation today!!

Hey I had my interview 2/18. Is anyone who was recently accepted (recent: within past two weeks) willing to share when they interviewed? Thanks!
 
So I keep hearing two things:

1. This school strongly prefers in state students, and your chances of out of state acceptance even with interview invite are slim.

2. If you have a 30+ MCAT and 3.6+ GPA then your chances of acceptance with interview are great even if you're out of state.

A second year at Rowan told me this school is all about stats and they could care less if you have a genuine interest in OMM as long as your MCAT is 30+ and have a 3.6+. I've been told the reason their wait list has a lot of movement is because they accept a lot of applicants with 30+ MCATS and high GPAs that wind up rejecting their acceptance in favor of allopathic acceptances.
Having a last minute invite to this school I'm conflicted if I should invest all that money for plane, rental car, and hotel or just look away from this school. Anyone on these boards out of state with a 30+ MCAT and 3.6+ GPA been rejected post-interview from here? My calls to admissions expressing my oos concern keeps telling me my stats make me a great applicant. But damn I'm not the richest gal in the world, and not looking forward to charging this up especially this late. Does admissions tell you how many seats are left? I'm thinking about calling again before I commit to coming for II and straight up asking how many seats are left.
 
Any accepted students got their health forms yet? I thought the forms were supposed to be mailed in February but obviously the snow delayed the process a bit.

Oos applicant here! I would def recommend going to the interview. From my experience it seemed like an amazing school, with a really healthy learning environment.

It's been pretty silent thus far. Sometimes good things come to those who are patient. At least this is what I keep telling myself. LOL! What did you think of the campus and student body?

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!! GOOD VIBES LOL ..so i went to a state school that had four campuses so the fact that rownan was only two buildings for the most part I didnt really care cuz we are there to study not party lol. but i really like the students...i actually have a couple friends who go there. I liked how all of the students were constantly in and out admisions office and that the staff had personal level with them. I have been told that the faculty are very supportive and i really like the small class size and all of the academic review / tutoring resources they had...how about U?? 🙂
Also idk if this was just me but when i called and asked about whether i had been reviewed they said i was in the group of interviewees that will be reviewed on 3/20/ 🙁(

Glad to hear you had a good experience. I also got the impression that rowan staff and faculty are the best nationwide, and they are extremely supportive of their students. Thanks for the review update. Hopefully they are able to come to final decisions and call us on the 20th. I'm really looking forward to an acceptance. Where are you from? Goodluck to all!

I have been waiting for it, and it hasn't come. If anyone gets a health form please post here.
 
Hm.. I am scheduled to have an interview this Friday, and apparently it's going too snow/rain the whole day..........
 
Hey Guys!

This is my first time writing on this forum so be nice 🙂

I'm a first year medical student at ROWAN (OOS) and I love it! During my interview I was asked several questions about osteopathy and why I wanted to be a DO. I gave an honest, genuine answer and that definitely mattered! I got the acceptance call the next day. For reference, my stats were mediocre at best but my application as a whole was BOMB. Oh and I'm bomb in person too. It's not all about stats and that became clear to me once I met the other students in my class. Everyone is super laid back and chill. But don't get it twisted, we're gunners and do really well as a class!

1. The students in my class, as well as the upperclassmen are EXTREMELY helpful... to the point that it's almost overwhelming. We share resources, notes, books.. even food lol
2. Class attendance is NOT mandatory for the most part. Me personally, I stay home and watch the lectures in my pajamas with my teddy bear. I get a lot more out of it than sitting in class on my phone browsing Instagram. It all depends on your study style and how you learn. Okay I know some of you still are curious.. NO, i never go to class and my grades are very veryyy cute so you won't be at a disadvantage if you choose not to attend. (not to say I've never done poorly on an exam because I have)
3. The faculty and staff here are truly angels! They care about each and every student and they are very proactive in ensuring our success.

It sounds corny but the only real negative thing that I can say about the school is the location. I'm used to living in major cities, so South Jersey is pretty sad to me. But I got over that quick because most of my day consists of studying anyway. Oh.. and parking is a bitch too :/

What else do you guys wanna talk about???

I forgot to say that I got accepted into other schools too (even 1 MD) but I chose to come here and don't regret it

Thanks for your post! As an out of state student, how was finding housing? Any suggests of good apartment complexes nearby?

I received an ii on a Thursday and had about 3.5 weeks of prep time! Good luck!

I am also OOS and won't be able to visit the apartment complexes before the school starts. The closest (10 min walk to campus) and cheapest one I could find is Spring Garden Apartment. It's 675 dollars if you sign a lease for 13 months (or 705 for <13months). There is also Kingsrow (825/month, 30 min walk to campus).

On another note, is anyone attending the pre-matriculation program?

I am waiting, I interviewed 2/18. Pretty nervous to be honest. This is my number one choice. I think they are meeting tomorrow because I don't think they met last week. From my understanding it is a bi weekly schedule. Also I called earlier this week and they said a staff member was away on site visits. This person returned sometime this week and will be calling to inform applicants of the committee decisions.

Also, I really appreciate this post! Gives me some hope. I was accepted elsewhere, but I love this school. If I don't get in this cycle, I will defer my other acceptance to reapply next year. My friends attend here, I am close to the school and every time I've visited there was such a good and positive vibe. The admissions office is always so friendly and my interviewer was so nice. Fingers crossed for an acceptance tomorrow.
