So this past week I was accepted to Stony Brook and next week I have an interview at Georgetown. I'm debating if I want to go to Georgetown, but I don't know to much about it. I am a New York resident (from Queens), so Stony Brook is the less expensive option. I go to Binghamton University (upstate NY), so its not just a hop skip and a jump away (to go to Georgetown). For people who go to either school or if you know anything about either, what are your thoughts? Thanks.

DC is awesome but Georgetown is going to be very expensive, not to mention the insane cost of living. On here, we can only provide our personal opinions, hearsay from others, and not much else. But everyone has different expectations for what they want out of med school.

Think about what YOU want out of a med school. Does Georgetown have anything that Stony Brook doesn't, and would you pay an extra 100-120k over 4 years for it? And are you going into primary care? If so, can you handle that extra cost with a somewhat lower salary?

I would definitely go to the interview…

I wouldn't really worry about choosing between the two until you get accepted to both, though. Unless you have really rich parents, take a government scholarship, or a compelling reason to go to DC for medical school, I'd choose the in-state, cheaper option without a second thought.

I definately think you should go. I LOVE DC and it is a better school itself than stony brook. That being said, if you turn down the interview, be sure to say you did it because of Jalby.

Since you're relatively close there's not much harm in checking it out. I'd go see the place for yourself.
