FL resident. I loved both schools. There is a significant difference in cost. UCF is a newer school but it has good step scores, solid match results and has a very supportive environment. My significant other is located in NYC and I will definitely want to do my residency in NYC area. Jefferson also has solid step scores, a great match list, longstanding excellent reputation and it is also a very supportive environment. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

lol you have like the same picture as REL from UCF.

I honestly don't know between those two. Of new schools, UCF is definitely very strong. And cheap.

I guess if your goal is to get to NYC I'd say Jefferson. The name recognition for UCF is great in Florida, but outside the state i don't think many people have heard of it.

I had an experience when I told the attending I worked for that I'd been accepted to FIU. He's from the northeast never been to FL...He just looked cockeyed and said "is that a Nurse Practitioner school?". I plan on practicing in FL so that didn't really concern me, but if you're trying to leave the state it could pose a problem

*that said UCFs match list clearly has plenty of people leaving the state every year

Without knowing the cost difference, and reading your future plans, I would say Jeff. Is the cost increase worth being an easy train ride away from your SO? Or is the savings worth being long distance for years? That we can't answer for you.

UCF has a lot of prelim matches, which might be concerning.

But if you are going to marry your significant other and know this is going to last, I would strongly consider Jeff (and I'm pretty anti-debt). UCF might make it harder to match more competitive specialties in NY.

Jeff will make it easier to match NYC and much easier to match Philly as a backup (some people commute Philly to NYC daily for work just to save money- they are close to each other and maintaining a Philly/NYC relationship is possible)

Philly to NYC travel is incredibly easy. I do it once every 1-2months. Buy the megabus tickets in advance and it costs only ~$10 for a roundtrip ticket.
