Hi all,
Should I apply now without this last grade (with an sGPA of 3.36) to make sure I'm on the early side, but exclude this final grade from my sGPA? Or, should I wait it out and hope I get my new transcript processed by the end of June and submit by 6/30?
Any advice is sincerely appreciated!
Hi guys,
I don't know if this has happened to any of you, but I was sent a verification email yesterday around 3 PM, and then again just a few minutes ago. Now it looks like I was processed 6/13 instead of 6/12. This probably won't hurt me much in the end, but what would warrant AMCAS sending...

Applying to MD/PhD schools this year, just about to submit AMCAS, but I am bit stuck on what to include in my Significant Research Experiences essay. I have two major recent research experiences, both with LORs from the PIs. This includes a PI I worked with during my postbac thesis research, and...
Hi all,
I took the MCAT last summer, but am retaking it soon. My plan was to go ahead and apply to AACOMAS since my MCAT scores are adequate, but wait for AMCAS. I've seen on here that a good strategy is to go ahead and apply to one school as soon as possible so that my application will have...
I have a PhD.
Kind of a silly question maybe, but is it pretentious to put Dr. in front of my name in the AMCAS application?
I asked a friend and he said entirely ok to do so but I am mixed about it.
Thoughts?
Hello Everyone,
As the title say, I was hoping someone (preferably someone who has done a lot med school essay revisions) to give me some tip/feedback. I went through the PS reader list page and messaged the readers but no reply (I think they probably got bombarded with too many papers).
So, I...

So I'm confused about the following info I found in the instruction manual:
Do not assign more than one status to an academic term.
Assign High School (HS) status to college-level courses taken prior to the high school graduation date you entered in the Schools Attended section, regardless...
I have AP courses listed on my college transcript (now I regret getting credit for them) but don't care about using it for med school prereqs. Do I need to go through the trouble of figuring out how to list them?
They were courses like history with no pertinence to med school.
I have two questions about the "Is the author associated with a school?" step when adding a LOR in AMCAS:
1) Does "school" here refer to any school I have attended, or to any school to which I am applying?
2) If "school" refers to any school to which I am applying, then does this particular...
Medical school hopefuls are getting ready to work on those applications. This can be an awfully hectic time as you try to stay on top of everything. Here are ten tips to help you hit the ground running:
1. Get cozy with the AMCAS/AACOMAS.
These two services (the acronyms stand for the American...
Some background info!
I graduated from Pepperdine last year and I was going to apply to medical school this cycle but I'm deciding to wait until next cycle to improve my MCAT score and etc. After graduating I took some classes at a community college for fun / to prep myself for my MCAT, which I...
Hello everyone.
I have my AMCAS ready to go for June 1st to hit submit, but this morning I woke up to find I now have a problem. Apparently yesterday the registrars office at my university changed my transcript a bit and my transcript now looks different from the one AAMC has received, and...
Under my activities section of AMCAS, I have a publications category for a publication for which I am second author. I was thinking of using the rest of the description space to list a publication which has been submitted and is in review, and one which is in progress.
Since I am not giving...
The undergraduate university I go to has a third term at the end of the year that is a three-week May Semester. It is optional, but are great for GenEds and such, but I was wondering if anyone else has a similar experience with May Semester or J-Term classes, and if AMCAS factors them into...
Hi all,
Just wondering how I should list 3+ years of research (mostly volunteer) on my app. For reference, I do most of my research for free/volunteer, but during the semesters at my college I get paid a small stipend for lab supplies and an even smaller stipend for personal use. Summers and...
Okay so I've asked a wide variety of people (pre-health advisor, my university's study abroad office, AMCAS) and am still quite confused.
I studied abroad in Fall 2015. I had to apply to my home university to be approved to then apply to my abroad program (Syracuse University). After studying...
Hey! I know something like this has been brought up, but most of it has been about dual credit for a few classes, and I was just wondering if anyone had any advice for a somewhat different situation?
I was enrolled in a 2-year early college entrance program for my last two years of high...
Hey guys,
I took the MCAT in January and made a 496. Sucks, I know. However, I am scheduled to retake it July 21st 2017. Is that too late to apply through TMDSAS and out of state medical schools?
Stats about me:
I graduated in May of 2016. I am a hispanic male.
Undergrad GPA: 3.73

I was wondering if someone would be willing to look over my work/activities. I just want to make sure I'm doing this correctly, and I'd appreciate any feedback!!
Hey guys. So I am new to this site and would appreciate some advice on adjusting my list of schools.
Help with Schools:
MCAT:507 (I took it twice and this is my second score; first score was a 502).
GPA: 5.6 (Science should be ~5.57 but I am not 100% sure there)
Work: Scribe in a community...
So, I'm a freshman and looking to graduate early right now. I'll be class of 2019, though I was supposed to be 2020. So, I'm thinking if a post-bacc or a grad degree would be the best course of action? I don't want to apply to med school next year, so that's not an option.
I had some...
Hello all,
I am in the midst of preparing my application and came by the IA question and need some input if an incident I had with an old roommate qualifies as something I would need to report (please read before formulating your conclusions):
Briefly, I had a very negative experience with my...
I just started a scribing position and will continue it throughout the year. Should I include this as a separate activity, or should I just include it in "Other clinical activities"?
I taught chemistry lab as an instructional aide and would like to list it on AMCAS. I know teaching/TA is an option on this, and I'm not sure if this of as a job or a for credit thing. This was my primary form of student income and I didn't get any class credit for it...Should I list it as paid...
(I began writing this in the "official activities/work section thread," but quickly realized it might be a bit too long; if you (mods) think I should move it there, I will.)
Question:
So I am now up to my 5th entry. The MME has been used twice, so I only have one left. I am trying to decide...
I had a question about AMCAS Identifying Information section of birth and sex. Before it would only have check boxes for male, female, or choose not to identify. Now they transgender male, transgender female, genderqueer/gender non-conforming, and different identity (please state). Would...
So under the state listed for childhood, AMCAS states:
In what area did you spend the majority of your life from birth to age eighteen?
I'm having trouble answering this seemingly simple question because I literally spent half of my life in two different states. I assume I should list the one...
Evidently, academic counselors weren't so helpful with this question that I have: if our final exams do not conclude until the 2nd week of June (meaning we don't have final grades until about a week later, and thus transcripts cannot be released for the attached semester/quarter until then), how...
So when we're inputting the hours for our EC's in the AMCAS application, how would we describe something we've done for literally 17 years. In my case, I've practiced a certain martial art since I was about 4 years old, and began instructing at about 16; I'm 21 now, so I'll have 17 years total...
