Hey guys,

I visited the Emory admissions office today and had quite a few laughs. The school is absolutely beautiful, and the staff was super friendly. One of the ladies that picks up the phone is pretty much a photocopy of Sarah Jessica Parker.
Interview invite round #1 should go out next week..I think that's what she said...don't really remember though, I was busy laughing my butt off.

Me tooooooo 😍😍😍 I'm afraid my "Why Emory" essay sounded a little desperate...
 
Briefly describe (in approximately 100 words) any health-related experience and/or research experience (volunteer or employed). Also, indicate the time and frequency of your involvement.



Quick question, does the prompt means health-related research experience or just research experience in general?
 
What kind of picture is everyone sending in. I have headshots done but they are lik 6x4 and they state they want 2x2. Think it is that big of a deal?

If they say 2x2 then send a 2x2. I know you probably don't want to give up your headshot, but I'd just get a passport pic at CVS.
 
This may seem like an obvious answer, but I want to avoid having to provide an explanation in the box below course requirements. I'm on quarters, so I only have 10 quarter credits of actual Biology courses (6.6 semester hrs, not fulfilling the 8) but a bunch more in microbiology and such. Do these other courses help to fulfill the requirement?

If they are listed under bio, it shouldn't be a problem, IMHO. You should call them just to make sure though.
 
Anyone have trouble calling their office? I've called several times over the past few days but I always get the voicemail message.
 
Yeah, thanks Vihsadas. I thought about it and micro is listed under "BIOLOGY" in AMCAS, so I think that should translate to any classifications in secondaries.... plus, it's just "small"-"biology", so that's good enough for me.

I have had the same experience, I also didn't get a response to an email.
 
How do we find out whether or not Emory has our LORs? Is it just a matter of calling them?

There's a status page.. mine hasn't changed, though and my LOR's have been on VirtualEvals since 7/2..

They change the status page when they get them from VE. Mine were retrieved 5 days after I submitted my 2ndary, fyi.

Wait, wait! you misunderstand. I didn't mean to say that if its classified as biology on AMCAS then you should be okay, I meant that if it is a bio course in a general, more basic sense (no classes too specialized) then it should be fine. I don't think that I've had a problem this year listing my year 1 Cellular biology and metabolism course as a pre-requisite requirement for med.
 
How are completions coming along? Been over a week and a half since I've had all my stuff in, but no word yet! Status page still has items incomplete.

I submitted my secondary the day I received it (9/5 I think?) and had my letters in sometime in August and I think it still took them 3 days to make my application complete. Give them time...I'm sure you're still plenty ahead of the curve.

They actually have my letters marked as received 7/16, not sure what that's about.

No news since the 9th though, Please Emory? Please?!
 
it's been two weeks since i have submitted mine but no status change
hopefully over the weekend! 🙂
 
apparently their 'now' declaration on the complete email I received on 9/4 concerning interview invites was not totally honest. And why do they not answer their phone? It's killing me.

C'mon emory!
 
Hi Guys,
I think they started to send out the interview invites because I received the invitation via e-mail today. You have to then respond to the Admissions Manager to accept the invitation then she e-mails you a confirmation e-mail that confirms your interview date and give you more information regarding how your day is going to go and tips on how to dress and what to expect on interview day. I submitted my application on September 5th, was complete on September 10th and got my invitation today September 19th (my interview is the second week of October), plus I'm out of state. I think that's pretty impressive turn around. Their admissions office does not mess around!

do you have to submit your payment before 5 on weekdays? I just went to submit my payment and was directed to an error page that said no payment can be transacted at the time.

Mine was pretty slow... I turned it in the day it came out (9/5 I think?) and my letters have been on VE since early July and I was just complete last week (9/16). So hang in there! I know it's a long shot but I would LOVE to hear from Emory.... 😍😍😍
 
I submitted before they opened on 9/18 and was complete by 5pm on 9/19. I had sent my letters/payment/etc already. I sent them an email the same day I submitted asking to see if the letters had been received through postal mail, which might have helped move my file along, although that was not my intention. FYI if anyone wants to try it.

They gave me a date of October 13th. I think it's a Monday. That works well for me so I can fly to Atlanta on the weekend and only have to take one day off from work.

Letters in Virtual Evals: 7/17
Status: Not complete and letters not received

I am going to give them a call next week to check on how things are going. Hopefully they will have my status updated by then. Seems like a great school.

Congrats to everyone who has interviews so far, it seems like Emory is on the ball! I sat on this secondary for wayyyy too long, I got caught up in interview travel etc. I'm submitting tomorrow, I hope it doesn't hurt my chances. I <3 Emory.
