Did you have this status before it changed?

We have received all the necessary credentials including letters of recommendation in order for your application to be reviewed. While the committee does its best to review applications in a timely manner, please be aware that it may ve a while until you hear from us again. We greatly appreciate your patience during the application process.

I'm waiting for mine to go under review and it's been complete for a few weeks...

when my status changed to that message, i got an interview invite later that day 🙂 so best of luck to you!!!!! :luck:

Of course. You're complete now. You just have to wait like everyone now! But it should come in very soon! GOod luck!

EDIT: Oh yeah.. I remember a few pages back, someone noticed that if you get that massage, the email will be positive news. And I guess nikkiMD is another example of that.

I was complete in mid august and when I called in to inquire they told me that I had been reviewed once and will be reviewed a second time later. The guy said that it happens to most applicants and its a good thing. I'm assuming you are in the same situation as me. We're going to have to wait a long time.
 
I'm also "under review" but isn't that a bad thing. A good thing would be an invitation to the school.
 
How long have you guys been under review before (1) hearing anything or (2) decided to call?
 
I've been under review since 8/22, so it has not been very long for me.

Still, I might send a letter of interest next week against the consensus that this will probably not accomplish much.
 
Just wondering, how long did it take you guys to go from complete to under review?

I submitted my secondary in late August, was marked complete 9/16 and my status hasn't changed since.
 
Took me a month.

My status changed to "Under Review" a few days ago. Just called to check on it and I was told that I'm on hold...

so i'm finally submitting today, and my "why gw" answer fiiiiiiinally fits- except for the final period. Think they will look badly upon it if it's missing that period on the last line?

edit: i just changed some wording so it will fit, nm

So you have to call to find out if you're on hold? Your status online won't reflect that?
Anyone? EEEEEK...
I've been complete since 8/12.. and NOTHING since then.. except Under Review. Thoughts?
 
My advice is to call after 1PM tomorrow.

Just ask them about your status. They will gladly look it up for you.

seems like there's a lot of us that haven't heard anything for a long time...my guess is we're all on hold.
 
Interestingly... there aren't many or any rejections either. I guess its either interview or hold for now...
 
I called last week and specifically asked if I was on hold...but the guy told me no, I was still under review.😕

I have been complete since the first week of August
 
I called today and was told mine still "under review", it should take 6-8 weeks. But mine is 11 weeks....they also told me they have 12000+ applications this year. Any one also waiting this long?
 
My application status changed from "Your application is under review" to "Your application is currently under review". Am I losing my mind or is this relevant?
 
Are you POSITIVE it's different? Maybe you just didn't notice before..

Anyway, I do have that very same message that you have currently.

mine says that too ! haha maybe gwu is just doing that to try to make us feel better and like our application is progressing ..
 
I wouldn't take too much stock in the status page... Mine hasn't change from the in line to be reviewed message and I got an interview offer yesterday. Definitely just call them to see what's up. They're really nice on the phone.
 
is there a certain time to call ? like do they only do status checks on a particular day ?
 
on the website it says between 9-5 eastern..

That is when their office is open. If you want to check stat, call AFTER 1PM.

The voice recording you hear when you call will indicate that as well.
 
Just had my interview yesterday, I REALLY liked that school. It's going to be a long 6-8 weeks...

For those concerned - neither interview was stressful, they were both laid back and very easy. The students there seem awesome and not cutthroat at all. And the facilities are gorgeous.

I was "complete and under review" 2 weeks ago and my status page still shows that.

I just called...the lady said "you're on hold and no decision has been made on your application. the majority of applicants are placed on hold and are re-reviewed later in the future. you can send in update letters, grades, and so forth if you want."

maybe that last part was her hinting they like to hear more up-to-date info from those they put on hold or perhaps that i'll remain on hold unless i show them i'm making improvements? no idea...

looks like I got the kiss of death like the rest of you. :scared: I would definitely call if I were you since the status page will likely tell you nothing
 
I finally sucked up the nerve and called them on the 2 month anniversary of my being complete. They told me, not at all to my surprise, that I too am on hold. I do know people, however, who have gotten interviews later on the cycle so one should never give up hope!

Maybe us taking the initiative to call them will make us look better in their eyes?
 
i'm trying to get up the nerve to call as well... i wrote an update letter to send to a different school i'm on hold at, maybe i'll send it to GW as well... I REALLY want to go here. Are they friendly on the phone?

I have no idea because I never got your msg. I had something like "we have received your secondary. please send your LORs if you have not done so already" for a while. then about 2 weeks later it changed it to something like "you are now complete and under review," which still remains as of right now.

I never received any emails indicating my status page was changed, either, btw. I just kept checking it and finally saw that one change. So, as I said, 2 weeks after it was changed to that last msg, I just called today and the girl told me I was on hold blah blah.

You should just call them. The girl was really nice. She sounded young, probably an undergrad or grad student. She definitely wasn't an old, bitchy hag like they have at the Jefferson office haha

I actually left something out...I'll try to make a timeline for you.

Mid-July: submitted my secondary
Early-August: Received an email saying my status page changed. Checked my status page and it said "we have received your secondary. please send LORs now if you have not already."
Late-August: my advisor sent out my LORs
Early-September: I called to see if they received my LORs since my status page was still the same. She said her records indicated they had not received the LORs yet but that did not mean they were not to sent to GW yet. She said they could just be in a pile waiting to be input into the computer.
Mid-September: No email or anything, but I checked my status page and it was finally changed to "Complete and under review. this may take 2-6 weeks."
October 1st: Status page still says the samething, so I called and the girl told me I was on hold.

Thanks for the timeline. I have yet to get the complete and under review message. I'll wait a little while longer.
 
I've been in line to be reviewed for almost three months now :laugh:

GW is a crapshoot just like Georgetown. So many applicants......
 
I agree that they seem really nice over there. They didn't make it seem like I was burdening them by calling....

They're just shooting everyone down early. I almost think that's better, as they don't have you keep your hopes up for eight months.

I emailed them today, got a response in less then an hour. I'm on hold as well. 🙁 I was complete on 8.19.
 
does GW straight reject anyone or do they automatically put you on hold even if they don't want you and reject you later?

in other words, if there is someone they really don't want, do they just reject him/her flat out without placing them on hold?

I just want to know what being "on hold" means exactly for them. :scared:
 
It obviously varies by the person, but think about the fact that there's only one GW entry in the rejection thread.....
 
Let me add myself to another hold. I'm very dissapointed though, according to their cherry picking MCAT by their standard i have a 36M. I would have loved to visit GW.

Of all the schools that put people on hold... is it safe to say that its not a bad thing to be put on hold at GWU? If you recall from a few pages up, someone said the guy in admissions says its not a bad thing...

I would really like to have a shot at GWU because this school does interest me a lot.
 
wahhh, i got the same thing that i'm on hold also . blahh . but funny story, when i called them after i gave my amcas id the lady was like "uhh sorry we don't even have your application"

so then i start freaking out. im like WHAT but i got an email saying i'm COMPLETE, are you serious ???

and then she was like "well.. did you by chance mean to call george washington? because this is georgetown.. it happens all the time "

got an invite today =) I was complete on 9/16... interviews are already into late November
