i was invited for an interview on 9/25. anyone else interviewing on that day?

Still in the application process...
Please let me know what you think:
As some of you may remember, on the secondary application, GWU wants all of your prereq work to be filled out. I took AP Biology but I was also a Biology major. Is it better to put my AP credits as the prereq and under grade write TR or better to put 2 or 3 of my advanced Bio credits - such as molec, genetics, etc? I also have a C in my first semester orgo but an A in biochem, can I somehow incorporate that A into the prereq work page so it may offset my C? Any suggestions?

I was under the impression that most schools prefer that you take college courses for the prereqs, and not use AP credit for them. If you took intro to bio courses, I suggest listing those, or put the upper div ones if you didn't. I think they just want to see that you fulfilled all their requirements, since they already get all your transcripts anyway. I'm not sure about listing the org chem class with an A because they already see everything, but I don't know...

I went directly from one saying I was in line to be reviewed to one that now says that a decision on my application has been sent by email. Therefore, it was a bit of a surprise (a good one though) and it probably varies widely.

when you say 'decision on my application has been sent', you mean they've already accepted or rejected you? or just that they've given you an interview date??

GW doesn't send rejections via email, so it looks like an interview!👍
 
Yep, for me it was my first interview invite, therefore if you've gotten this message on GW's status page it's probably an invite 🙂

Something must be weird with their online status site because it says that I am still in line to be reviewed. I have yet to even have the "under review" note. By the way, I was complete on 07/25 (they notified me by email).

Hey Marcy, copperfrog, and BeardedRunner I'll be joining you on the 19th. Are you all staying in the same hotel or splitting it up? In any case we should definitely get in touch, it'll be cool to see my fellow SDNers in person! I hope we all get in! 👍

Congrats!

I'm actually staying in a hotel out in Crystal City (MUCH cheaper!) and I talked my mom into coming along to keep me company... I'm staying Thurs-Sun though, figured I'd see a little bit of the city if I'm not missing any more school to stay!

I'm getting a little nervous (but excited!) to go to GWU... it's getting awfully close!!

Ah, good luck to you all, mine is just the day before, almost the same. Ditto to the nervous excitement. Psyched about the "blindness," I feel that makes for a more conversational experience.

I'm staying at the Capitol Hilton which is right by the White House (!!!) and although a little more expensive, I've actually stayed there before so I know they have ironing boards and large bathrooms. Does anyone know how many people they interview on the same day?
 
I've been 'under review' for about a month.. is this normal?

Me too. Maybe the ADCOM is on vaca or something...doesn't look like there have been any interview invites for a while.

I'm sure they're still reviewing it. My application was complete on 8/13 and I just got an interview on 8/28, so give it some time.
 
I've been complete since July 18th and under review since July 31st and still no word from GW 😕
 
I was complete in mid July, and just got an interview invite for October 9 as well, but had to reschedule since this is on Yom Kippur! For all of you curious about my "stats", I have a 3.7 and 29 MCAT with August scores pending (so there is still hope for everyone, don't worry). My rescheduled date is October 23, so maybe I will be seeing some of you in a few weeks!

Anyone know what kind of interview format this is?
 
I read a few post up that the message would eventually change to something along the lines of "we've made a decision" or "your app is in line for review"

I currently have this message: "We have received all the necessary credentials including letters of recommendation in order for your application to be reviewed. While the committee does its best to review applications in a timely manner, please be aware that it may ve a while until you hear from us again. We greatly appreciate your patience during the application process."

Does this mean its being reviewed or is that the next msg I'll get?

That's the message I got before the "under review" message. When you're under review, your status will be "Your application is currently under review." It took about 2 weeks to go from complete to under review for me and I've been under review for about a month now. 🙁 I'm so impatient!

I have this message up, despite being invited to an interview yesterday
Your application is currently under review.Please note that although this site is updated weekly, your status may remain unchanged for several weeks as your application goes through a comprehensive review process.


I guess this means they don't update the status day to day, but rather weekly or something like that.

No...I'm pretty sure they will let you know if you are rejected.

hey to all who got interviews, major congratulations, i'm so happy for you!

since i'm applying to this school as well (am in the process of completing the secondary), i was wondering if you guys wouldn't mind sharing what your stats were (gpa's, mcat) just to get a sense of what my chances are of getting an interview.....thank you!

How do you know when you're complete? My status says like "your secondary has been submitted. please send your LORs if you haven't already. we'll contact you if we need anything else." it's been like that for a month or so...the LORs were sent to them 2 weeks.

anyone have any idea? thanks
 
Congrats again to everyone who got an interview so far. I was just wondering where you all are staying in the DC area? Ive checked hotels in the area for the night of Oct 8th and they're all at least $190 a night!

Read up a little in the thread... I found out you have to stay in Virginia and take the metro in to get a cheaper rate. I'm staying in Crystal City area for about $70.

um....if I remember correctly, you get a updated message that says you are complete and not just that you submitted your secondary. When they are reviewing, it says your application is currently under review.

I've been complete and under review since 7/31 and haven't heard anything from GW either 🙁. I called yesterday and they said they have already reviewed my application once and have not decided anything, so it's in line to be reviewed again until they can come up with a decision. I'm not thrilled about that, but at least it's not a rejection just yet!

You should call... they take status calls between 1 and 4 PM.
 
I was also complete 7/31. I just called them and she just said it's complete and under review. I asked if I could get put on a pre-interview hold or anything and just sit like that for months and she said: no, not really...you'll hear soon as we make a decision...

So....yeah...sounds like they don't leave you in limbo for too long which is good.
 
hi guys,

i received an email that they received my secondary on 9/12 and they are waiting for my LOR. my LOR were electronically sent to them on 9/8....

how long did it take for GW to say you were complete?

Congrats on the interviews! They sent me an interview invite yesterday for 10/14, although my status page still says "We have received all the necessary credentials..." I was complete on 8/20. I'm glad that it's after a long weekend so I don't need to take a day off of work for traveling, but holy crap the hotel rates are expensive! I'm looking at going into Virginia now, too. Is the Metro reliable? How far into Virginia is too far?
 
Uhmm did anyone recently rejected receive their letter via snail mail? I'm out of town right now, and on the phone my dad (who doesn't speak English well) said that he received a letter - either from GWU or Gtown - stating that there were "too many applications this year...blah blah blah." (Obviously a rejection.) I know that Gtown is currently sending out rejection letters now, so I hope that he is just confused, and that letter is really from Gtown. That would be somewhat of a relief.
 
Interviewed today, great experience, everyone was awsome and i was really impressed. I think this school would give anyone a great education, regardless of your future goals. Good luck everyone!

Glad to hear it! I was supposed to go today but had to reschedule to Friday because of class. Getting really nervous as it's my first interview and I love the school! Anything I should know?
